Subject: Water valve shut-off question...

Underneath my right dinette seat, there is what looks like the water pump and PVC piping.  There are three shut-off valves on the PVC piping and I believe I have them all turned so that they are all horizontal... none perpendicular.  My question is, is this right, and what do all these shut-off valves shut off or turn on?  As I understand it, one of them is for the hot water, the other for the cold water, and the final one is for all the water.  Am I correct?  I'd like to mark them to tell me which is which and I'd also like to know what is the proper open and shut off for both in-use and winterization.

Are there any illustrated pictures on this site that show what these pipes are and how to set the valves?

Thanks.

Are the pipes and valves right behind your water heater?

You've found the bypass valves for your water heater.

For summer operation: the middle valve, on the short length of hose between the other two valves, should be set perpendicular.  The other two valves should be set parallel with the hose.

Yes, they are in front of the water heater.  Thanks Outbound, I think you helped me figure out what settings are correct for this time of year.

Oh Lordy!  Mountain Mist and I are bound to be so jealous!  Your valves are so ACCESSIBLE compared to the ones in our R-Pods -- as our very LONG hilarious discussion in another forum can attest.  We have to crawl under the dang bed after figuring out how to prop the mattress up.  And we had lots of help in the forum figuring that one out!

I'm green with envy -- your access is so SIMPLE (but maybe not as much fun LOL).
