After our first trip out this past weekend, (see Podin' Bears Take to the Road for description) we noticed that the caulk is pliable along the roof line toward the rear and now lots of oak bloom and even leaves are not stuck in it. Is this normal? If so, how in the world do you clean it? We tried pulling small pieces out (among other things) but it just breaks off and leaves residue....unsightly! ugh!

While talking about the roof, has anyone noticed that the roof drains almost directly down the side into the hot water tank switch area? We had a lot of rain and noticed it pouring down. That can't be a good thing, me thinks.

Our 2009 RP-171 is coming up on two years old and I've never seen anything stuck in any of the caulk.  As far as shedding rain, the majority goes along the curve and drains at the corner of the r-pod.  I've never noticed any excess water pooling near the water heater.

Thanks for responding. I think we may need to call Forest River (unfortunately our dealer is a dud!) and ask them about both things. We definitely have junk stuck in the roof caulk as I described and it is only 4 weeks since delivery. The water also pours down the side straight to the water heater compartment. Of course, not all goes in it but quite a bit gets in around the top of the swing down door.
