Hi all,

Our 2016 RP178 has an entry door that won't close properly, has to be slammed. Was told by an RV mechanic that the wind-proof hinges don't allow any adjustment.

The door has progressively worsened, now it jams on the upper corner opposite the hinges and cannot be closed from inside the trailer, without there being a gap in that upper corner.

If closed from the outside an extra push on the top seats the door okay.

The door is not warped that I can tell.

Any help here will be welcome and appreciated.

Warmest Regards,

How long have you had this RPod? There are a couple of factors that could be contributing to this. One is if you are using the stabilizer jacks to level the trailer. This causes the frame to flex and can be a cause of binding. Level with the wheels and ramps, blocks, etc. Then only use the jacks to stabilize. Another is that you may need to lubricate the hinges. If they bind, then they can distort the hinges which would affect alignment.

I don't know enough to say with any certainty what the cause of this problem is, but those are two things to check.

+1 ours did the same and turned out to be the friction hinges needing lubed. Clean them out with WD40 then lube with a real lube like TriFlo. Don’t worry, they will still have resistance to wind. If the frame is torqued, you will be able to re-form it by lightly tapping with a hammer and block of wood.
