Hey guys,

Has anyone tried to dampen the furnace?

I sleep light during the night and wakes up a lot when the furnace kicks in.

(A electric heater is not feasible in this case).

I’m not sure how it would be done given the tight space (at least on a 179 it was tight). We resorted to sleeping with good quality ear plugs.

I made a heat deflector to turn the flow of the hot air out into the cabin instead of under the bed. Because I lined it with self-adhesive foil-faced foam, it had the added benefit of muffling the sound a little bit. The other thing we did was to turn around so that our pillows were toward the wardrobe side. Since the furnace was no longer under our heads, it helped also. The third thing was to run a small O2 Cool fan. That provides a little white noise. Between the three, we were able to sleep better. The pictures of the deflector should still be somewhere in my mods. I have not looked lately to see if the pictures were still there.

Do an advanced search and expand the date range to all posts. The default is six months or newer. This would miss the older posts with the information.

We use Jackery 1000 and when we are off grid we use a small electric heater. The heater we have has a timer and a remote so we can control it from bed. We can also use the jackery for cpaps , charging phones etc. We have a 100-watt solar panel connected to the Jackert so it is charging each day and full by nighttime use.
The Jackery is a bit expensive but to me it pays for itself in a short amount of time.

i've seen noise dampening for the AC units, has anyone ever tried those? it looks like Styrofoam blocks that curve the air flow to help quite the noise. i haven't ever ran my furnace (only ran it to make sure it worked), but i think the AC is very loud.
