So I have a 2015 179R
I turned on the hot water valve in sink let it run until no air came through I turned off gas and electric switches to off waited for 5 minutes turned on gas and electricity Heard the click, click click and puff gas ignited waited a few minutes everything seamed to be working but never got hat water at sink or shower any ideas. |

[/QUOTE] Good point. "Hot" water would have come out of the sink if the bypass valves were set to winter. It wouldn't have been hot, and you're right, the water heater could have been empty. TT ------------- 2010 176 FJ Cruiser |

It looks like your water heater is up at the front driver's side of the camper next to your furnace. There should be an access panel on the inside that you can take off that will show the back side of the water heater and the two bypass valves. ------------- 2021 Rpod 196 2013 Ford 150 V8 |

On a 179 you lift the mattress on the driver's side and then the plywood under that. There are two configurations of bypass, either three valves (cold line going in, hot line coming out and a valve in the line between the hot and cold legs) or like my 2016-17 179, two valves - a valve on the cold leg that directs water either to the tank or to the bypass line, and a valve on the hot leg that closes to prevent water from entering the tank through the hot leg when the bypass is open. Regardless of the number of valves, if the system was correctly set up for winterizing, switching to operational mode means turning every valve 90 degrees. The valve handles give an indication of the position - for example if the handle is at a right angle to the piping it is closed and if it's aligned with the piping it's open. If you've tried to run the water heater in electric or propane mode and the tank was empty (or essentially empty) you may have damaged the water heater. Easier to fix if it was just electric (replace the electric heater element); I'm not sure what gets damaged if you run the propane burner with an empty tank. You can see my 2-way valve on the blue (cold) line in the photo; it's oriented to let water flow into the tank. It's harder to see the black shutoff valve on the red (hot) line but I believe it's open.  |
