Have to get my new 172t into a toigh spot on the side of my house. The going is neither smooth nor level. Would be near impossible to do with the truck. So they make some cool motorized trailer dollies, but they are like 1000 bux!!! Anyone use an atv or lawn tractor successfully for this task? Any other suggestions?? ------------- 172T |

That might work, if you have enough traction and power. I used to move my popup trailer around with a mower. But it was lighter than the R-Pod. It won't hurt to try I guess. I used to move my popup with my John Deere garden tractor (18 hp, hydraulic tranny), and it was much heavier than the 'pod. The problem with moving the 'pod, for me, is the ball on the back of my tractor is only about 5 inches off of the ground so I would end up tearing off the steps if I tried.

We move our RPod around easy on a cement slab with the wheel attached to the tongue jack. Northern tool sells a dolly with a long handle to move around a trailer. I believe there have been other posts on RPodnation using one. They are far less money than a electric dolly. If you have a fairly solid surface even it be grass I don't think it would be that difficult. If you have soft dirt or gravel it would be difficult, even then with a power dolly the tires would need to have traction they might spin. I have used my Cub Cadet to move our POD around but only on fairly level ground. If I had to move it around the yard on the grass I believe that I would have to put the tire chains on that I use when pushing snow. If the grass is damp the wheels will slip, I know this from pulling around the lawn roller that weighs 500 lbs. Going up a steep grade may tough even with the chains on, it won't kill the engine (26hp.) but because if forward or backward movement slows or stops the wheels will dig all the to China. ------------- Mother Goose's Caboose..2011 RP171..07 Grand Cherokee

I dont have far to move it . Its not steep but not level either. How does the hitch mount on ur tractor? Is it high enough? ------------- 172T |
