Hi all, We have a 2017 179 with an 8' slide out and I've been concerned about how the slide's plywood bottom rest on the 3 or 4 rollers that are attached to the inside bottom of the slide out opening. Every time it rolls out it sounds like the wood is being damaged. So far it has pretty much worn away the black fiberglass mesh glued to the bottom of the plywood. Has anyone  notice this issue or come up with a fix for this problem? I've considered adding some thin plate steel between the plywood and roller. ??
Thanks

Have you checked to see if the rollers are rolling? Have you lubed them any? I have not seen this but then again, I have lubed the rollers periodically.

We have not seen this on our slide out, and ours is the same vintage.

I can imagine any of several things that might have caused this. There may be flaws in the plywood (e.g. voids), or the fiberglass mesh was not applied correctly, or there may have been excess weight in the slide out (do you use it for storage?).

Getting a thin steel plate in there may be a solution, if you can do it. I think you would have to lift the slide out enough to put something in there. Otherwise, the slide out would have to be removed so that you could repair the bottom.

Hey there. You definitely want to keep those rollers lubed. Ours does occasionally but we giver everything a shot of lube and it quiets down nicely.

Take care.
