I'm thinking about putting mudflaps on the fenders of our 179. Has anyone done this?

Yes, we did so on a 177 years ago.  Makes a huge difference on the amount of mud thrown up on the sides when traveling down dirt/unpaved roads.

Did this on my 172, as I take mine down logging roads and it's so much cleaner now on the sides when I get to where I'm going.

When we had our Vibe which had identical fenders as the r-pods I bolted on aluminum extensions to the back part of the fenders. It stopped the mud from being thrown up on the sides of the camper and they never were a problem being aluminum which was about a 3/32 " thick.

We added mudflaps to our 179.  I went to the local auto store and bought heavy duty rubber flaps and cut them to the needed size. I used stainless bolts, large washers and lock nuts.
I don't know if this is true, but have heard that some states require flaps on any trailer and the flaps must be as long as down to the center of the wheel  hubs.
