I need to replace the Highpointe convection/microwave which broke 2 weeks after the warranty expired with no help from dealer or manufacterer--so I need to purchase one of a similar size to fit in the space

the opening is 22"wide x 15" high x 23" depth - I would need a unit with the trim or maybe I could attach trim after the fact----I looked briefly on Amazon but would rather trust campers with experience in these units. I'm guessing it is 1.6 cf in size.   If convection is too pricey I would install a plain microwave unit.

Any suggestions????

On our 179, the m/w unit is much smaller once you take the outer trim piece off.  The opening is much larger in all dimensions than the unit, probably for heat dissipation and because that’s the easiest way to finish the cabinets. there is a LOT of open space in the cabinet.

Most any m/w will work as long as you can get an accompanying trim panel and can make it fit to the original or reworked opening.   You may have to add  a lower shelf for it to sit on, or make the sides/top smaller, etc.  I don’t think there is anything special about the pod’s m/w  unit itself compared to a standard m/w.  the issue is finding the right size, right trim front plate and then being able to reframe the opening to properly support the unit.   The m/w simply plugs into a standard 120v receptacle and has no special wiring needs.

Several owners have removed the unit and used the space for storage.

Safe travels

Yes I am looking at all sizes for that opening--we do use the microwave when traveling so I will look for a better-rated brand for replacement--thank you.
