Hey folks, still relatively new at this. We're preparing to store the rpod for a few months while we travel through other means. I have been hearing that axle jacks are a good idea to keep the tires from degrading while the trailer just sits there not being used. I found these https://www.etrailer.com/p-326-TRLLG-2.html, but it says they are for "for Trailers w/ Leaf Spring Suspensions". Not sure what kind of suspension ours has (we bought it used, but I don't have reason to believe it's been modified). It also says a minimum of 10.5" is required for clearance, and ours has just exactly that it looks like; and that if you're at the minimum you might need a "assist a lift" (not sure that's actually included in the kit or not). Does anyone have any experience using these jacks, or have any other preferred methods for storing the rpod off the ground? |

We have a nearly 11 year old 177. It is stored inside an old horse barn on a dirt floor with hay all around. No mice issues. Anyway it has never been 'lifted' off the ground during storage. It is stored this way from Nov. 1 to usually mid May without moving. Never had a tire issue storing it on the ground. The first set were manufactured 2009 and replaced 2016. Second set went from 2016 to 2020. Up to this point 34,000 miles were racked up. Both sets were "C" rated China tires w/o any problems. The last set was purchased April 2021 and are Carlisle Radial Trail HD "D" speed rated tires. We do the following for the tires during winter storage: air up the tires fully, back the trailer so that the tires are on a piece of 12"x24" hard plastic on the gravel driveway, put on tire covers We have not had problems with either one of our pods and at least 3 different brands of tires Safe travels Vann ------------- Vann & Laura 2015 RPod 179 https://postimg.cc/0zwKrfB9">

If you're worried about flat spotting the tires just hitch up once a month or two and take a drive long enough to get everything warmed up. That would be good for the bearings and brakes as well. While you're at it you could operate all the trailer systems and electronics, even the water pump dry and winterized for a few seconds. Nothing is better for any equipment than to use it often enough to drive out moisture and keep it properly lubricated.
