Hello All, I have a 192 where the microwave is located below the stove top, virtually on the floor. I would like to relocate it into the cabinet above the stove or sink. Has anyone done that? Do you think the upper cabinet can support the weight? ------------- Hardwear Hank 2021-192 |

I have a 2019 179 and the microwave came located in the trailer from the factory in the cabinet above the fridge in the slide out. One thing I have noticed is that there is plenty of room with no obstructions between any interior cabinet walls or shelves and the microwave, like a minimum of 2+ inches with grill openings above and below the front of the unit. This would allow for a lot of ventilation and a reduction of heat build up in the cabinet. Something to be aware of when making your plans. Hope this helps. ------------- Jay 179/2019 |

There is quite a bit of difference between the 192 and the 179. The 179 has the wiring for the microwave. The 192 would not have the wiring to plug in the convection/microwave. Another consideration is the depth of the cabinets. You would need to measure to ensure that there is not only enough height for the microwave, but enough depth. I am guessing that you already checked the width. The final consideration is, as you asked, weight. While it is possible, and even probable that the weight could be supported, the cabinets were not built for that purpose. I suppose you could contact the factory to ask.   Here goes, I now have 2 useable drawers and a microwave I do not have to pray to! These are just renderings, actual project not completed yet. With the weight of the microwave up top I had to add reinforcement walls to both sides of the upper cabinet. And make the right upper cabinet smaller. ------------- Hardwear Hank 2021-192 |

Be sure you maintain the required safety clearances if you move that microwave. You might want to look at getting a low profile over the range microwave with integrated ventilation. FR not does mount anything heavy from the walls. When I replaced the upper cabinet I learned why. I replaced because it was falling off and poorly constructed. Reinforcing the sides is very important, I did the same just for the cabinet (not near the weight you will have). Honestly, I would totally rebuild the cabinet on the right and add a shelf under the micro to support it. I would not rely back the micro hanging bracket alone.. not in a camper! I would also reinforce the back wall. With all this done, I would think it would actually stay in place. JMHO P.S. We took delivery without a microwave. I would be very concerned about the cabinet strength too. I had to reinforce my overhead shelves on my 195 last year. They were separating. They are held up with small screws that can easily pull out with a little weight on them, going over bumps. Not saying it can't be done, but it must be reinforced in my opinion as well. Under the jack knife sofa their was a backer panel about 14” x 60” I pulled it out and used it. It really served no purpose where it was. ------------- Hardwear Hank 2021-192 |
