We are a bit confused about the operation of our furnace! There was no operators manual in our papers. Is it normal for heat to come out of the vent below the bed and below the dinette table but cold air comes out of the unit in the ceiling? ------------- Happy Trails! | The unit in the ceiling is the air conditioner only. I think others have inquired and its not possible to get a heat strip with this particular AC. The heater is located near the floor and has a brown cover. They are each controlled by the thermosat and by flicking the switch between heat or cool. |

Not at the same time, no. If both units have come on at the same time, you probably should call your dealer and arrange for service. As mentioned, the air conditioner is mounted on the ceiling. The furnace is mounted at floor level. The furnace is controlled using the wall-mounted thermostat. The air conditioner is controlled either using that same thermostat or by controls mounted on the air conditioner itself (the controls changed in the 2009 model year). Normally, when you purchase a new or used trailer, the dealer will spend 1-2 hours going over the details on how everything works, including the air conditioner and furnace. You may wish to call your dealer and ask to arrange a session with a technician to go over your r-pod. ------------- Craig :: 2009 RP171 towed by a 2017 F150 |

Our POD is now in hibernation in a cave, but the couple of times that we did use the furnace the fan in the air conditioner did run at the same time. I just thought that it came on to move the air around as the furnace heated it. I will have to check with the dealer. If that is not the way that it is suppose to work then I will have to get it fixed in the spring.

It sounds like the fan on the A/C is turning on. This is not supposed to happen and likely could be one of three problems. 1. The thermostat is malfunctioning. Not the most likely, but it could happen. 2. More likely, the thermostat was mis-wired, in which case there are two wires on the same terminal connection. 3. Most likely, the wires for the furnace or the fan on the A/C unit are on the correct terminal connection but one is touching the other. The wire has been stripped back too far and when it was connected and screwed down, it ended up touching the connection next to it. You should take it to your dealer and have them trouble shoot it. They should be able to find the problem pretty quick. |

I talked to the service manager at Nationwide RV an he said to turn the fan OFF in the fan mode on the thermostat and that should take care of the problem. This only happens when we are connected to shore power because the air conditioner will only operate on 120 volt power. I do know that the fan was on because we used it a few times and did not change it to off when we turned off the unit.
I can not check this out until the spring because it is in storage for the winter. If someone down south is out camping this winter and has a 2011 model with the digital thermostat and can check this out that would be great.

I had the same issue with my 2011 176T. The digital thermostat has 3 modes for the fan: on, off and auto. Just switch it to off and you'll be able to operate the heater without cold air blowing in through the overhead unit! Hope this helps

Thanks Carlos. I could not remember all of the settings in the Fan Mode and the sevice manager couldn't remember all of them either.
