Trying to watch a MP4 video through the USB drive and the TV can find the folder that the movie file is in but not the movie file itself. The manual indicates that MP1, 2 & 4 are supported via USB.  After trying a bunch of different things to no avail this is the response from the manufacturer:
............................................

Good Day!

I have ran into this in the past and our engineer said the manual is incorrect. The TV can displays pictures and play audio, but unfortunately it cannot play video via USB.

.............................................

Anyone have any success playing a video file on this Television?

You'll need something you can plug into the HDMI port, such as a Roku stick. You'll have to stream it from a computer or phone.

Do you think the TV will find files on the USB drive if I use a USB to HDMI cable?

no. hdmi doesn't do that. You would need a smart device to read the thumb drive and output to the tv via hdmi. Any laptop made in the last 10 years would probably work.

Thanks for all of the input.  I read that a FireTV has a usb port, can play my movie files and can output to HDMI that I can plug into the tv.  I'll try that.

Are you sure about the USB capability? I thought the fire TV stick only has USB for power. Like Apple TV it is intended as a streaming device.

I think the Roku Ultra might do what you want. Has more bells and whistles. You can also just use an HDMI adapter to your smartphone and put your video files on that.
