Hi all,

I have a couple quick question on sewer system maintenance that I would be much appreciative for some help on. I have a 2016 rPod 177.

1. Should I be running a dedicated black tank flush hose? In other words, is it dangerous to use my normal city water hose on the black tank flush system? I do always run a filter.

2. Is it safe to use the black tank flush portal on the pod without a pressure regulator for extra blasting power satisfaction? Or do I risk blow out?

Thanks!

I heard on a video that the black tank flush should not have a regulator on it.

There's no need for a regulator and reducing the pressure will reduce the effectiveness of the flush. Definitely use a dedicated hose, just in case you get backflow. I use a collapsible hose with a valve on it. I only turn on the valve after I've turned on the spigot -- and I turn off the valve before turning off the spigot -- so nothing from the Pod gets into the hose.

+1 TheBum...keep clean things clean and dirty things separate from each other!

I have 2 separate totes for black/Grey tank business things and drinking water/food grade hoses, filters etc. I also do not allow any touching of the clean container OR items until after washing my hands to prevent cross contamination.

I have a truck so to further separate them, the black colored tote is in the truck box, the blue tote is in the trailer. Nice and clear.

Just a look at how I work and think.

Cheers,

Andy

I built an adapter with short sections of hose and a spring-loaded, PVC check valve. The adapter goes on the black tank flush port then my hose goes on the other end. If your worried, use 2 check valves in series.

All of the parts were sources at Ace Hardware.
