I just received my new couch I'm going to install. I'm removing the ottomans, and dinette cushions and installing a couch in my 195. I guess it will be a 196 after that? I hope to have some time in mid april to get this done. Not sure if anyone here has done this. It was hard to find a nice 72 inch couch, they are in demand right now. Thomas Payne seems to be sold out on 72's. I got a rec pro, seems pretty good.

Which RecPro sofa did you get?  Been considering the same modification.

That looks pretty good Mark. Are you planning to bolt it into the dining nook?

My plan is removing the 2 ottomans, and all dinette cushions. Then I will make two rails that attach to the bottom frame of the couch. Then i'll bolt the two rails to the dinette platform that already exists. The couch is 72 long, and the opening is 75, so an 1 1/2 rails on each side will fit perfectly.

Is you couch area in a slide out?  If so is the electrical under the left ottoman facing it? If that is the case how did you handle the electrical in the ottoman attached to the floor?

I just removed the ottomans, cushions, etc. with the jack knife sofa. How did you handle mounting the sofa and the legs?  You have the electrical and plumbing under the left ottoman? I would love pictures.

I mounted the sofa without legs. Not needed as the dinette frame was at the proper height, so I put it right ontop of where the cushions used to sit.  It was a pretty easy install. I had a couple small wires that ran along the edge of the pantry ontop of the dinette frame, but I put a large 45 chamfer on the edge of the post I used to attach the couch to the dinette frame. That allows the wires to be under it, but nothing is touching them.

Rawest-
MAYBE,You are asking from your  179 point of view about a 196  placement- I also have a 179.  I "think" the difference is that the 179 does have wiring/plumbing in the left ottoman and apparently, the 195 ottomans are empty and the wiring/plumbing is routed in a different location.
The 179 could  have a couch in the slide out, but you are correct that something would have to be done about the plumbing/wiring in the left ottoman. It would stick above floor level. Or you could simply leave the left ottoman with a cushion on top and adjust the ottoman base height so that the top of the cushion is still level with top of couch and couch can slide over ottoman base(with cushion removed)when slide out retracted. Whew! that was a long sentence.
Hope this helps

Thanks, It makes the space so much larger when the slide is out, but just abit smaller when it's in. It's really comfortable, and makes a wayyyy better bed than the dinette did. I think you could sleep two adults on it, as long as they know each other very well. If they didn't, they will by morning, lol. As far as the ottomans, there was nothing in mine. The only wiring was on the left side of the photo, under the small 1.5 square rail I used to attach the sofa.
