Hi Everyone-

Thanks to all for previous responses to my questions on the forum.  We have a new and very upsetting problem to deal with, and your thoughts would be much appreciated.

We took our BRAND NEW 171 to the dealer for some minor warranty work and they somehow backed it into another trailer and broke through the fiberglass on the back near the window.

They are talking about cutting out the damage and patching in a new piece.  "You will never be able to tell it happened."  Meanwhile, I'm thinking about the integrity of the one piece roof.  When we met with the dealer I insisted they get an entire new roof for us.  They said they would look into it, but it would actually present a greater risk of leakage than their repair job.

I predict they will be calling soon to say either they can't get the roof, or it is not a good idea to put on a new roof, or it will take months to get the roof.

Very curious to hear from others about this issue.  I also have a call in to Forest River to see what they say.

The damaged area is probably about 10-12 inches wide.  I would post a pic but I don't know how to do that.

Thanks,

Jeremy

That's a shame.  Only good is they did it and you didn't.  From your description it seems like damage is to rear not top of roof.  IMHO - I would go with patch, I wouldn't trust the dealer to install entire roof panel.

Here's a bit on using post image:

Take the picture.  Save it.
Go to postimage.org.
select image size (800X600)
select removal time
open picture source
choose image
Select "HOTLINK for FORUMS"
Click on Blue Folder ICON
Indicates "COPIED"
Return to Post - CONTROL V
1 imafe at a time.
