Help. Got the husband to run a dedicated to plug for the 171. Mission was to just charge battery. With the 30 amp breaker on in the camper it throws our 20 amp. With 30 amp (main) off all is good....but here is my dumb question.. am I charging the battery? And - if I want lights to be on “shore” line is there a modification that can be done to the camper box to have a 20 amp alternative?

Unless you are trying to run the AC and the water heater, there is no way the RPod should be tripping a 20A breaker. Make sure the switch for the water heater is off. If it is tripping on that breaker, and is not tripping when plugged into shore power at an RV park, then I suspect that the polarity of the outlet is reversed. I don't know for sure if that is the case, but before I installed the 30A RV outlet, I plugged our RPod into a regular 15A outlet. As long as I did not try to run the big appliances (AC, Microwave, Water Heater), I had no issues. That is why I expect something is amiss with the outlet and not with the RPod.

Yep something is wrong. I can run my a/c on a 20 amp breaker no problem. Everything else will run in 15A. As StephenH suggests, be sure all the loads in the trailer are turned off, including the water heater and a/c. If your home breaker still trips then run an extension cord from the trailer to another receptacle in the house. 15 amps will do. If that doesn’t trip then the new receptacle you just put in is miswired. If it still trips then you most likely have a short in the trailer somewhere. Turn all the trailer breakers off and then switch on one breaker at a time to find out what is causing it.

+1.

Something wrong there. We have our Rpod on a 15 amp breaker when we're at home. If the battery is charged up, we've also been able to run the A/C.

I as well only trip the 20 amp breaker if I run my A/C for an extended period during extreme heat.  Otherwise, no issues at all.  I redid my garage and part of the remodel was a dedicated 30 amp breaker with the correct 30 amp outlet mounted outside.  Almost done, can't wait to use it this year.
