We recently stayed at Cape Henlopen SP, along the coast of Delaware. The park is very clean and quiet. All the sites have 50-30 amp power and water. They also have black-top RV spaces, a picnic bench, and a metal fire-pit. Most of the spaces have pine trees partially shading the sites and all have a sandy area to set up chairs. The campground is separated from day use area of the SP, so there is little traffic in and out of the campground. The fees are very reasonable. We found the campground store and shower facilities to be clean and well-stocked.
A note about reservations- you will see that many of the sites on the website are marked for a 15 ft. trailer only. However, that is because the SP wants campers to park their TV on the site as well. We noticed that a 20ft. R-pod would have fit on almost any of the camp sites with room to spare for the TV. So don't be concerned about picking a 15ft. site and just tell the website you have a 15ft. trailer.
The Park is on the coastline of Delaware where the Atlantic meets the Delaware Bay. It is covered in Pine trees making it a comfortable place even in the summer heat. It is on the outskirts of the town of Lewes, which claims to be the the first European settlement in the State. It is home to many good restaurants. We walked to the highest sand dune in the park which put us above the tree line. We had beautiful panoramic views from the dunes. The beaches at the State Park are fabulous, wide, and uncrowded. During WWII, Fort Miles occupied the area and there are fascinating large shore gun batteries throughout the park. Pre-COVID, the park offered tours of the underground bunkers, which are amazingly huge, and capable of housing hundreds of soldiers!
The park has paved bicycle paths, countless walking trails, and park areas for picnics. During the week the campground was very quiet and relaxing. Try Agave Mexican Restaurant or the Touch of Italy if you go into town. Enjoy!
