My hot water heater doesn't heat water too well, has trouble firing up and fault light comes on. I've checked fuses, propane and made sure I've run hot water faucet before trying. Does anyone know what causes this? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Thank you!

What does it do in electric operation?

Besides the above question, we also need to know if the burner is coming on, and staying on for at least 5-10 minutes or so, when in propane mode.

If the water is already hot from the electric element being on, then the burner wont need to be on for very long.

If the water isn't hot at the tap, then check the position of the bypass valves. The ones leading to the top and bottom of the water heater should both be parallel to the lines. The one between should be perpendicular to the line. If the one between is parallel, then hot and cold water are being mixed and the best you will get is warm water.

My Propane line going to the water heater was kinked from the factory.
Might be worth a look

Its a water heater not a hot water heater. If the water was already hot it wouldn't need to be heated. Evil Smile

Once the really hot water starts to cool off it becomes just hot water and needs to be heated back up...

Be sure to shut off the electric mode when not in use, if you accidentally run it with the water heater tank empty it will burn up your heating element. You can use the dedicated circuit breaker in the rpod panel to turn it off if you don't want to go outside and use the switch.
