Not to be overly dramatic, but I'm stumped.  Ive been finding little piles of this stuff, mostly in the storage compartment from time to time but most recently on this step (which is a new mod, btw..lol).  I may be dating myself but the consistency is fluffy, soft,,,,,almost as if you took what they used to fill old bean bag chairs with and shredded in a blender.  Any ideas (sorry, posted a couple pics twice)?  Obviously it's a critter of some sort but I've not seen an indication of wear and tear anywhere.  Was thinking maybe the stuffing from the mattress but no sign of wear there either.  Appreciate any thoughts.

Chewed up foam insulation mixed with mouse poop? If so, the smell should be unmistakable. If that's what it is, get some mouse bait and/or traps set in there before you have a whole multi generation mouse convention. And remove any food items. I hate mice.

That does look like the foam that is part of the "sandwich" that makes the floor of an Rpod. I would agree with og that it looks like mice have found a way in.

You're gonna have to find out the source of that soon. What does it smell like? Looks like shredded mattress foam or insulation of some type....what is directly over it? Is there a hole, or is it being dragged to those spots and left in piles?

"I hates those meeses to pieces!"

Or whatever is doing that...

A few gopher snakes will take care of the problem in no time.  We had a mouse get into our garage.  A few days later I found a gopher snake had come in for lunch.  No more mouse.

With a tear in my eye, I had to ask the snake to leave and gently escorted him out.  My wife doesn't like snakes.  Unhappy

Yeah a kingsnake will make quick work of a mouse....I dont mind seeing the snakes out on my lot, I've seen a few but when I found one INSIDE my house, I trapped it in a box and took it a few blocks away and released it. I had friends tell me to keep it around, well.....NO....it knows its way into my residence, AND I think I'd rather have the mice!

My cat enjoys watching me try to catch mice. That's what she does...watch! Censored

BTW, I just cleared a mouse nest and family easier than I thought. They set up camp under my outside Bilco doors in cellar stairwell. I mixed up a few crushed moth balls with half gallon water with some dishwashing soap. Poured in down the stairs. Next day they were gone. Would definitely work in your pod! Of course, you might have to wait a couple of years to sleep in it, but there won't be any mice!!

No gopher snakes in the East. Not sure if there are any mouse eating snakes in VA or not.

Personally, I find either cats or warfarin to be effective, but not at the same time. DisapproveThe trick with cats is not to feed them when you're trying to get rid of the little mousies. The problem with warfarin is that while they're bleeding out the mice get cold and find a nice warm spot to die in, like the condenser coils of a fridge....But stinky dead mice are better than live ones.

There are many new types of mouse traps available from disposable to electrical. They would likely be effective and would not have the risk of a rotting mouse carcass in a hidden place.

I think there is a thread here somewhere about trailer Hot Skin. Should be some good advice there.

I've tried all kinds of traps. If you only have a few mice traps can work fine but if you have an infestation they just don't seem to kill enough mice quick enough, and the little beasties start to figure it out. The tasty warfarin gets them all right away and they're done. Hungry cats are probably best though.

Carefully inspect the whole bottom of the trailer and plug any holes you see, even really small ones. Mice can get through cracks or holes as small as 1/4 inch. like the diameter of a pencil.

Great Stuff makes a foam that is supposed to be a pest block. Steel Wool also works, although it can rust. Stainless Steel scrubbers would work well in that case.

I do not have a major issue with mice in my trailer. When I first got it I went over the bottom with Flex Seal and closed all the access holes and spaces. Worked great. I got on a creeper and went front to rear. I store it in an out building that does have mice, I also store my vintage cars there. I use small canning jars, filled with moth balls and perforate the lids. Place them in trailer and cars and the mice tend to move on, they do not like moth balls. In a closed area the scent and effect of moth balls is overwhelming. Not just to mice. Effective to bugs and other critters. Poison left me with dead mice I didn't find for months. Snakes are OK, but here in TN you are very likely to get a Copperhead with the Gophers and Kings. They eat too. My cat is reasonably effective with moles but not so much in the crannies and crevices of the shop.

Off topic but what mouse free vintage cars do you have in there?

Had to look up the C10.  Kewl truck, and only 500 made? Which paint configuration do you have? Great truck to go glamping in with a vintage trailer, or maybe even an rpod....

Sweet, Years ago I owned a '69 Corvette with hardtop/convertible.  350/350 HP high performance and 11.5:1 compression ratio.  Lots of fun to drive but was not as fast as my '64 Dodge Polara 500 with a hemi.  Wish I had the Vette now, worth a fair amount of chump change.

Offgrid/Jato,

Reply to both and apology for hijacking. The truck is Hawaiian Blue, the middle white section was eliminated years ago. The truck is modified, with engine and trans mods. The interior is original, which was the one significant difference in the "Spirits". It is an eye catcher.

The Vette I have owned 30 plus years, latest project is to restore AC. Highly optioned 350, with matching drive train. It is a coupe with removeable roof panels.

I have considered using the C10 to pull Pod, but my mileage sucks now and would be worse:) Plus I don't really want to modify the truck anymore to make it a trailering option. They are the last two cars I have left and I will miss them. Unfortunately they are holding up better than I am.

Yah, I saw that Spirit interior, very nice. Hope you can enjoy the two classics awhile longer.

I had to sell my old Land Cruiser when I was living in the Outer Banks, couldn't stand to see it suffer corrosion, so now I only have my modern "practical" vehicles. Since we bought our little hobby farm here in SWVA I have toyed with the idea of getting an antique tractor for mowing it, but its too steep in spots to take the risk so I'm going to get a more modern safer, and "practical" tractor as well.

I had a small longhorn enterprise years back on 20+ acres. I had a couple old Massey Ferguson tractors, very similar to the Ford 8Ns, great classic tractors and very good with terrain.

My new place is 24 acres, a little more than half in pasture. The sellers mowed it with an 8N and wanted to sell it to me, but I passed. Some of the slopes are  around 30 degrees and being a tractor newbie I want something with a ROPS. I'm honestly terrified of being crushed by 3500 lbs of steel trying to figure out a new tractor and brush cutter on a new property. I've learned the hard way over the years to take my pucker factor seriously.

I did drive a Massey 35 I liked but it had armstrong steering, Hydraulic steering is another benefit to the newer equipment, my back and shoulders aren't what the once were....Anyway, like RV'ing, it should be fun, not a white knuckle experience.

Another thread hijack-I have a 1963 Massey Ferg 35 that I have rebuilt the electrical system and the carb/fuel system and  repainted. I use it with a bush hog, a scraper blade and a boom for moving logs to cut for firewood. I have owned it for over 30 years and it runs like a top. Great tractors for small scale usage

A boom on the 3 pt is a great idea short of spending the $$ on a loader and 4wd.

As I want a ROPS and power steering I was thinking of stepping forward to the '80's and looking at a MF240. Perkins diesel. The later ones also had wet brakes, I haven't seen many tractors with dry mechanical brakes where they seemed to work properly, and I think I'll need all the help I can get brush hogging the hills I have.

I'd love more suggestions on this from you experienced small scale tractor operators and this thread is the wrong place. I'll start one in the off topic section...

Once we get settled I plan on doing that. It's only about 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Pkwy. But first I'll need to get my daughter and son-in-law to move their full timer 38 ft class A with the 5 slides outta there, I couldn't even get my 179 in there right now, that thing is HUGE. Star

We have a Kubota B7500. It has the folding ROPS, and one nice thing is the rear wheels are adjustable for width; so we set them to the widest setting. After putting them "out" the wheels are about 5' wide. A large part of our property is 100% slope, but if I'm careful, I can reach many parts by just going down/up one of the many paths available. I did equip it with an inclinometer so that I don't have to trust the "pucker factor" when I'm on a side slope. The inclinometer is graduated in green, yellow, and red. I know with filled tires and as long as I have the brush hog set low, I am safe in the yellow zone. Any time I get near the outer edge of the yellow zone, I look for a way out lest I find that random gopher hole.
