The vinyl trim on our slider that covers the screws has split at the top. Two questions:
1. Common?
2. How is it replaced? Easy or difficult?

Very common. Look on Amazon. It just bends and slips into place with a little effort.

This is what I bought. It is much heavier than the original insert. https://smile.amazon.com/JR-Products-10111-Premium-Insert/dp/B0031Y7Z0A/ - https://smile.amazon.com/JR-Products-10111-Premium-Insert/dp/B0031Y7Z0A/

Try to not stretch it as you are installing it and do put the cap with screw on at the ends. It will help keep it in place in case there is any shrinkage. I ordered it in May, 2018 and it is holding up very well. The original wore out and was replaced by the dealer with another cheap strip. When we went to visit our daughters out west, I noticed it cracking in the Arizona heat. Since ordering this, I have not noticed any issues with it.

Any ideas / tricks for replacing the trim tape on the awning (passenger) side of the RPOD?  The awning covers the trim tape track.  I'm hoping that I don't have to remove the awning to replace the tape.

After I pulled the old trim tape out, I just pushed the end of the trim tape as far as I could under the awning frame. I figured that the awning frame protects the screws in the part I could not get the trim to. Then I used a couple of small pieces of pool noodle and pushed them in the opening to both seal it and keep insects out. So far, it seems to have worked well.

Thanks StephenH!  Sounds like that's the ticket.
