A 10 minute job (I thought) has turned into something a little longer and possibly a little more complicated.  Was changing out the original toilet in our 2011 177 and was changing it out for a higher Thetford model that would raise the seat from the original 12.5" to the new height of 17."  Problem came when I disconnected the pex water line I will have to extend it by 4.25."  Is there any way I can transition pex to another plastic water line or will I have to purchase both the line and then pliers, connecters, and clamps?  Thank you and may you have a meaningful Memorial Day.

When I installed an outdoor shower on our 176 a few years ago I bought all the pex tools.  Not worth it for that job, but I figured they'd come in handy over time, which they have a time or two since then.  But, for a little job like what you're talking about, unless you want to invest in the tools, just use Sharkbite connectors.  They just push into the pex.  That's it.  No tools, other than something to cut the pipe to length.  The Sharkbite connectors cost a little more, but you'll save a ton on this job by not buying the tools.

Thanks TT, did you get the Sharkbite connectors at the local hardware store or a bigger place like Menards?

I got mine at one of the big box stores but I'll bet just about any hardware store with any kind of plumbing line will have them.

+1 on the push on pex connectors. There are other brands besides Sharkbite you could use if they seem too pricey or aren’t readily available. They all work more or less the same. I buy my pex supplies online from Supplyhouse.com, or you could get them on the ‘zon if you didn’t want to go the big box route.
