Just bought out r pod 178 last month, and the one thing I really don't like is the plastic battery box with the strap.

I am looking for a better box, maybe something that could even hold two batteries if I decided to carry a second or switch to the two 6v battery system.

Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

Check out the Harbor Freight trailer tongue box:   http://www.harborfreight.com/231-cu-ft-steel-trailer-tongue-box-61602.html - https://www.harborfreight.com/231-cu-ft-steel-trailer-tongue-box-61602.html

I installed one on our 172 and it holds not only our 2 6v golf cart batteries, but 4 wheel chocks, my battery hydrometer, a quart of distilled water, and more.  The box is sufficiently sturdy and is easy to bolt onto the tongue rails.  I bought it at the pre-tariff price of $72.99 [less the typical HF cupons].  Now it's $89.99.  The lock is not as strong as it could be, but if you are in an area where theft is an issue, you can always add a couple after market hasps and padlocks.
