As most of us know my axle recently fell off, due in my opinion to metal fatigue of the angle brackets (4 years of use and maybe 17,000 miles). Damage was done to the bottom edge of the trailer in front of the fender including to the keder rail. I plugged the resultant hole from the side with caulking and covered it with duct tape, figuring I'll renew the tape when it shows signs of needing it.
My question is - Do I also have to do something under the trailer?? It's hard to get a good look under there and (hopeful look on my face) maybe no damage will occur even if there is a hole down there(?). |

I would be concerned with water (road spray) when pulling the trailer in wet conditions. ------------- r･pod 171 gone but not forgotten! |

I would patch it and/or seal it. I have done bottom work on my Pod and always sealed the areas I worked with. There are many good spray sealants, not undercoating. Big store available. Thanks very much for the information. I had no idea how to close off any gaps/holes, I suspect a lot of people share this inexperience/ignorance. I just got way under the trailer, there was no damage on the underside, doubtless due to the fact that I was backing up at about 1 mph. It looks like I am past the immediate problems.  |
