Hi, just wondering if anyone can tell me about how much Insurance should run. Buying an R=Pod for just under $17,000 and quote is $300 a year. Is that about average and are there questions I should ask the agent? Thank you.

Rates vary by state and the coverages and limits you purchase.

Check with your auto insurance provider to see if you can get it added on to your policy. You may find that to be a cost-effective solution. We have Central Mutual Insurance and did that. When we had an accident, the RPod was covered so the repairs cost us only $200 for the deductible (plus a trip to the factory to pick it up when it was done).

I don't remember the actual number, but IIRC the total was a little over $200/year. It was associated with the insurance on our TV, and was considered a "rider" of sorts.

What anyone else pays, has nothing to do with what you pay. That said, our Pod was $120 a year.

Ones driving record and the location you live will make a difference in cost of insurance. When I lived in Miami my insurance was very high because of a high rate of law suits in that area. If you live in a low populated rural area your insurance will be lower.

Things like your state and county of residence, your estimate of how much you use the trailer per year, where it will be parked or stored, your age, driving record, insurance history including claims and of course, your chosen deductible and coverages....all affect the premium.

Mine is about $200 a year. Ouch, but cheap compared to a total loss.

We just purchased a new 195 and are waiting delivery. While we are waiting we are looking at insurance options, and $520/yr is the cheapest we are finding!

Yikes! That must be a gold-plated plan! Ours is < $200 per year. We got it as a rider to our tow vehicle (my previous post was incorrect; we just did the annual renewal).

Insurance rates and mandatory coverages vary by state, the driver, the number of policies issued (i.e. multiple vehicle and homeowner discounts), the risk to the ins. co., the value of the trailer, etc.  Given that Montana has no daytime speed limit, it is not surprising that insurance is more costly.  When things crash at high speeds, insurance companies end up paying out more money.  In lovely metropolitan Dayton, NV, we pay about $125 a year, but we have speed limits strictly enforced [especially for non-locals] and are getting out third, yes third!, stop light.
