Congratulations on your new Pod.  I wish the camping season had begun here, but alas, most of the campgrounds in the Sierra Nevada mountains are still buried in several feet of snow.

Congratulations and welcome! We have enjoyed our 2016 RP179 and I have done a number of modifications. I'm working on one now. The 179 is a great design with the rear kitchen. I hope you have many fun adventures and make many great memories doing so.

and... the higher peaks just got another 2' of snow in the last couple of days. In Yosemite, they had just opened the Glacier Point Road, only to close it again because of the snow. Some of the high Sierra camps will not open at all this year.

An example of the snow on the way:  Kirkwood CA is expecting snow for the next week, with between 25" and 44" accumulating.  This is in addition to the 2' mentioned by Glue Guy for the higher elevations.  The rivers will be running cold all summer.

We're dealing with flooding.  Many State Recreation Areas are near rivers and have been flooded and are closed.  Hopefully they will open soon but we're told to expect a bumper crop of mosquitoes.

I heard mosquitos in the great plains have navigation lights so they don't collide with aircraft.

That's true lostagain.
The aircraft at Offutt Air Force Base shoot flares to knock the skeeters out of the air and buzz the runaway to scare off the buffalo before they land.

I thought so.

How do the keep the prairie dogs from digging up the runways?

A loaded B52 weighs in at about half a million lbs. Kinda hard for prairie dogs to dig through 2 feet plus of reinforced concrete runway on top of whatever base is under there....

Yikes - never ending snow! We got lots in Colorado but fortunately we are close to Utah canyon country. Heading to Hovenweep National Monument with our 179 next week!

We're heading to Great Basin Ntl. Pk. next week, but the stormy weather pattern looks like it may last a while longer.  I hope we don't get snowed on.

You have obviously not dealt with the gophers or prairie dogs we have out here.  LOL

Grew up in NorCal, and had a lot of fun with gophers in the day. Saw one disappear a full grown artichoke plant down a hole. But still, I think in a fight between a hardened military runway and some small burrowing mammals, the mammals are gonna lose every time.. Besides, where’s their motivation, there’s no yummy plants to eat under there.

first trip for Daisy Mae is a music festival... boondocking her first time out! I'm hoping it's not too wet in the field they have us all in.. and believe it's far from a river! Phew! But good point about those hungry mosquitoes... packing extra repellent for sure.
