Please let me know if something in Campground 2 opens up. Campground 1 looks to be quite a ways from where the action will be.

Stephen, if hear of an opening in Loop 2/B I will let you know, however, since it is a state park, I don’t get notifications when a site becomes open, unless it’s a fellow Podder.   Boone that there are 2 other pods in Loop 1/A who are attending the rally.    It’s a very laid back rally, last year we had a walking meet & greet, 1 dinner podluck & raffle and everyone just mingled & enjoyed the park.    Still getting things worked out/ planed.

We'll probably just stick with what we already have booked then. I can't track in real time so it would be difficult to spot an opening in time to switch before it is taken again anyway.

Looking for a little advice on the trip to the park.  We will be coming from Michigan and the wife is concerned about traveling through the mountains.  Need opinions on what the best (least stressful) route through the mountains is, doesn't matter most direct route because we will be doing a somewhat leisurely trek to the park.  thanks in advance - dave

If you are sticking to the Interstates, you will not have any problems. That is probably the least stressful route. If, OTOH, you want to see some beautiful scenery on your way to or from the rally, check out Skyline Drive and/or The Blue Ridge Parkway. The speed limit is slow, and towing the RPod is a lot easier than taking a large motor home on either. There are sharp curves and lots of climbs and descents, but all is at a leisurely 45 MPH or slower. The scenery is beautiful and the temperatures are much cooler than in the valleys. It should be before any winter weather closes sections of SD or BRPbut I am not sure about which campgrounds (if any) will be open.

Sorry Everyone   somehow my notifications were not notifying me 😕.   Since I switched to a different phone carrier things have been frustrating with the switch.   However, as far as a itinerary, we will have our Podluck dinner Saturday 9/21 at Punic Shelter # 2. We will be supplying hamburgers, also I will be doing shredded bbq chicken. Please let us know what you will bring: main dish, side dish or desert (and what it is).    Time is TBA.

As far as set activities go, We are thinking of a movie night as we have a projector & screen. There is lots to do in the park: trails , swim, kayak / canoe (if you have them to bring you will want to bring them) or just enjoy all our fellow podders!     If you have any questions please don’t be afraid to ask!

If you have any questions you can text me (just in case I don’t get notified - as I will try to figure that out).. my cell is 440-382-4171. If you do send a text, just let me know who you are!

David & Vicki as far as food to bring for the Podluck it seems most are bringing sides, so if you want to make or pick up a desert item or a main dish.

Just a quick question to anyone who has camped in this park before.  We like to have the local news on the tv  with our morning coffee and due to this we bring a different antenna with us which does a much better job at acquiring stations.  Are there stations available in the area or should we just leave the antenna home?

Most of the stations you might get there will be in Greenville. You can enter an address here:  https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps - https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps

Put in an address and get an approximation of what channels you might get and what direction they are in.

Dave & Vicki - I honestly can’t remember if we picked any stations up or not. However a lot of the main local stations just changed frequencies as of yesterday 9/6.   Where the park is you might pick up some Georgia stations and some South Carolina stations, but with the frequency changes, there is no telling right now.

Y’all we are 2... yes 2 weeks away from the rally!! All the blue dots are where fellow Podders are. If I missed your spot I’m sorry... please let me know where your at!   Podluck will be on Saturday 9/21 at Shelter #2. We have the shelter the whole day and must be wrapped up by sunset. So we will start setting food up around 4:45 and plan to start feasting at 5pm.   We will have a raffle during the Podluck as well as get a group photo!

If you have any questions please let me know. Roman (DH) said we will he showing the movie RV...it will be Friday night at site 56/57 (Chris Christopher Regan’s) as it’s a double site and will allow enough room.   Bring your chairs & movie snacks. I am thinking we’ll start just about 7ish as the sun should be going down close to that.   We have a screen & projector to show it on.

You may already know this but with the app Tunein radio and your phone you can stream the audio for any local TV or radio station (as long as it streams its content and you have service where you are).  I live in Florida but listen to my favorite Los Angeles and Boston public radio stations all the time.

Florida is flat. RF signals propagate like crazy there. Go to California, or any other western state with mountains, and you will learn the concept of "fringe" reception. Some places I can drive for an hour or two and not get any cell reception at all. TV is even harder.

Dave & Vicki-   Yes this is posted on the Facebook group which is under R-Pod Owners. Travis is the moderator of that group as well.   In the FB is where I do have haps of the campground and where everyone is staying, so it makes it a little easier to know your neighbors.   The FB group is a great tool.   There is an events tab where all the rally’s are listed. I know not everyone is on FB and one of the fellow podders reminded me the this platform is used by a lot and many that are on here are not on FB.

Well I'm not a parochial never been out of Florida person (in fact lived out west for years.)  Its why I said "if you have reception."  My experience in the southeast mountains (where this rally will be) has been that I've usually had decent reception and might work to get audio when tv reception doesn't.

Stephen -   Please give Ruth this recipe- it was for the sweet salad at the Podluck.   Thanks! Hope y’all made it back safely!

Heres the recipe I promised you. Please forward to Ruth and Lisa. There was one other person requesting the recipe, but I don't know her name 🙄

Sweet Salad
1 bunch red leaf lettuce
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and sliced
1 package raspberries
1 package strawberries
20 grapes
6 oz cashews
Dressing:
1 cup canola oil
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup grated parmesan
1/2 cup sugar
6 Tbs red onion, chopped
1 tsp dry mustard
2 Tbs poppy seeds

Thank you! I will give it to her.

We made it back safely. Now to get the axle replaced. I hope it goes quickly. I don't expect Lippert will give too much of a hassle about it. Hopefully, they will reimburse the labor as well since the axle is less than a year old.

Time for an update. Lippert did come through and the axle is being replaced under warranty. Todd at Lippert told me that a complete axle (including brakes and hubs) was being shipped. What arrived at Shaw RV in Louisberg, NC was the axle without the brakes and hubs. I called Lippert and the brakes/hubs are being sent to Shaw RV. While Shaw is not where we bought the RPod, they are authorized for Lippert service. They are also only about 15 minutes away from us which is much better than the 2-1/2 hour drive it used to take to get to the dealer in Lexington, NC. That dealer is no longer selling RPods, so there is no incentive to go there. Shaw RV does not sell RPods either, except for ones they take in trade. They recently had a 178 (IIRC) which they sold a day or two ago.

Lippert is also covering the labor for the installation of the new axle. I was led to believe I would need to pay and then file for reimbursement, but today at Shaw, I was told they would contact Lippert about filing for payment directly with Lippert. Thumbs Up
