I'm going on summer number 3 on my tires, and wheel bearings without service. I probably only have about 7000 miles on the tires/bearings. I had the tires replaced with Carlisle Radial Trail tires within 100 miles of taking ownership from the dealer. I'm thinking I can get another summer out of both before servicing anything. Sound reasonable? The tires look brand new, but Ive heard many people say don't judge how new they look, Change every 3 - 4 years. I haven't done anything at all to the bearings, should I maybe put a pump or 2 of "some type" of grease in them and call it good for this year? I constantly monitor my hub temps with a laser thermometer, and have never seen them hotter than 99 degrees, even on hot days. I usually get out of my truck and immediately check the temps, so I should be pretty accurate on this.

Inspect the tires, build date should be no more than 5 years ago, tread should look worn evenly across the face, sidewalls should be smooth with no signs of cracking or drying out.
If you pump grease, You won't do a thing to put in a couple pumps. You need, to be effective, to pump until you push the old grease out, which means filling the voids inside the hubs the factory doesn't fill. Plan on a tube per hub.

The other reason to pull the wheels is to inspect your brakes. When I pulled mine (which had seen very little use by the previous owner or me) the brake shoes were badly deteriorated. Bearings and tires were fine. I have no idea what the previous owner did to cause the brake lining damage but I'm sure glad I pulled the wheels, I needed new drums and brake assemblies. YMMV.

I got them on Amazon. They were 3500lb Lippert torsion axle assemblies. Drums came with bearings prepacked with grease but I repacked them anyway. Brakes were preassembled on brake plates.
