Regarding our 2010 R-Pod RP171; is there a trick to removing the old rubber weatherstripping from the extruded channel running around all the edges of our R-Pod 171? Also is there a trick to sliding the new rubber into place? I plan to remove the old rusting steel screws replacing them with stainless steel in caulk-filled holes. I will also remove and replace the caulk on either side of the channel. Any comments or thoughts. Thank you in advance! MarkWink

It's not rubber, it's plastic. Called "vinyl trim strip"Comes in a few colors and widths. Any RV shop will have it, or Amazon, eBay, CW.com, etc etc.

Unless you have reason to suspect the current caulking, there is no reason to R&R it. It's a a pain to do, and ALL the old must be completely removed. It cannot and will not stick to itself.

We had a 2009 r-pod 171 and we replaced our screws not the vinyl trim strip. Our reason for replacing the screws was to allow more room in the channel for the r-dome and we used stainless countersunk screws. It maybe replacing your screws using countersunk screws may give a little more room to slide the vinyl trim strip into place.

Do it on a warm day, pinch it a bit , it pops right in , very simple.
