Couple questions for those of you who have already installed them. 1. What are they made of? I seen heavy rubber, metal and plastic at the different auto stores (do i need to go to a camping or truck store). 2. What size should be used. 3. How far off the ground or how long off the fender. 4. How did you attach or how can they be attached (can't do welding myself). Thanks in advance Lee  I have ONE free weekend before I leave for the Eastern Roundup and would like to do this mod before I leave. |

Lee, I just used regular car flaps and installed them with three nuts and bolts. Unless one wants to go real fancy and spend a bunch of money this seems to be the easiest way. ------------- Heinrich and Elly 2010 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab 2010 Prime Time Tracer 205M |

I recommend using Stainless Steel bolts as fasteners. If you need to replace the flaps, stainless is very easy to remove and put back on. I also use 'stainless fender washers' on the rubber/plastic side of the flaps to keep the bolts from pulling through if the flaps get pushed on. ------------- TIDALWAVE |

The ones I used where made of heavy rubber and was made for motorcycles. Most of the vehicle mudflaps where the wrong size/shape to fit on fenders. But the aftermarket flaps I found at the local honda motorcycle dealership fit just fine with a few bolts. ------------- |

Thanks, gmandual. I'm gonna go to the Honda dealer down the street to pick up some mudflaps. I've been told that I will need then in Arizona on my next visit. I found a pair of (what I would call ) medium rubber wieght mudd flaps at o reilly's auto. They are for car or small truck. Just did it last night to late for pictures.
Drilled three wholes, used small screws with lock washers, put the tall part the the flap along the inside of the fender. Did have to cut out a little piece for the rail (for the r-dome skirt) on the passenger side.
Getting ready for my trip to ERU, one day and a wake up.

Now that we added the risers to our RPod, it would be good to have mud flaps. I have some aluminum that I thought to use for mud flaps instead of rubber. I would like to know what others might think about that idea? The aluminum is about 3/32" thick. And ETrailer has small LED marker lights I thought to add by drilling holes through the aluminum to install them. My worry would be how flexablew would it be? if you hit something would it give? could maybe but it on a hinge. I did out 171 with a truck mud flap cut down.
