Hello all,
We have a 2018 rpod-179 and I was wondering if the furnace/heater has a filter? We’ve used it quite a bit in the mornings and I haven’t ripped the bed apart to see what’s in the furnace.
Thanks in advance,
Woody

There is no furnace filter in the R Pods . The gas furnace draws combustion air from the exterior and exhausts to the exterior. The heater  draws air from the interior to heat. It blows the heated air directly into the pod from under the bed. Many members have modified the furnace so that the outflow is 90 degrees from the stock direction—blowing directly into the pod toward the rear.   This allows safer use of the storage area under the bed.

Thanks
And the mod sounds like a good one. We always put a travel bag under the bed and so far have always remembered to pull it out before we turn the heater on.

It gives a more efficient path for airflow perhaps, bit with a heat exchanger and a bonnet switdh in the furnace you are not in any real danger of fire.

I agree totally. I guess I wasn't specifically talking about fire. The air path is much improved.  We were worried that some of the things we stored under the bed would be negatively affected by the excessive hot air.  We usually keep a tub of food under there and didn't want the extra heat.

thanks for the clarification

there are several posts about constructing the diffuser.  the best one was made from sheet metal and was very professionally done.  I made ours by cutting one end off of a lasagna pan and screwing it to the wall.  I had to add some 3/4" spacers to give it a little more room before the right angle turn. simple and cheap and effective.   the picture shows the basic design. since the picture, I have added non flammable duct insulation

Ha, ha, sounds like you and I think alike.... the simplest solution is the best solution... I used the cheap old pans you can buy and throw away.... 2 together and done!!!

Repurposing stuff to use on R-Pods rules!  The best mods are with repurposed stuff laying around the house.  It adds character and demonstrates the ingenuity of Podders.
