ExclamationRally Update -- All campsites are booked during the Rally weekend.  As cancellations may occur, check the "Live updated campground map" link below to see if there are openings, or consider coming earlier in the week.  Let me know if you would like to be placed on the Waiting List - at this point there would be one person in front of you, and just today (Apr 5) a Podder was able to make a reservation into a campsite that had opened up.

Link to the LIVE UPDATED campground map, showing reserved campsites in RED. I know that 23 of the reserved sites are RPods.

------------------
Weston Bend State Park, northwest of Kansas City, was the site of Pod rallies in the past and will be again. Will you join us? The official Rally will be Thursday May 2 - Sunday May 5 but we plan to be there April 29 - May 6. Come when you can!

Weston Bend State Park sits high above the banks of the Missouri River, with hiking and bike trails with nice views.  Check it out:  https://mostateparks.com/park/weston-bend-state-park - https://mostateparks.com/park/weston-bend-state-park

We have reserved Site #18 (April 29-May 6) which will be Rally Central. The campground features about 35 wooded camp sites, most with electricity. Sites 4-25 have 30amp [#7 is the camp host]; sites 27-37 have 30/50 amps; and sites 1, 3 and 26 have no electricity. All are back-in sites except 11 which is a pull-through. Note also that sites 1 and 35 are "Family" sites which are connected single sites for double the cost. When you are in the reservation website, you can click each site to see its picture.

Water is available at three stations around the campground but not at each site. Dump station and nice shower/restroom facility available. (There is also one vault toilet building). Pets welcome. Picnic tables at the campsites have recently been refreshed with new wood!  Those over 65 can get a slight $$ reduction. There are no park entrance fees.

The historic small town of Weston is just down the road, and it is a delightful place to visit! "The Best Small Town in Missouri." Tour wineries, a brewery, a distillery, a creamery and sheep dairy farm; shop nice galleries, boutiques, and antique stores; and dine at a variety of local restaurants. Check it out:   https://www.westonmo.com - https://www.westonmo.com

This will be a pretty low-key Rally giving you plenty of time to relax, hike, have fun in Weston, or just get to know other Podders. We will have some pot-lucks and campfires, and details will be posted down the road.

One event we will plan for those who wish to participate, is a "Something From Home" GIFT EXCHANGE. Bring a wrapped item (one per person or one per Pod) that represents something about your hometown, and is in the $10-15 range. Enclose a note with the item with your name, and explain how this relates to your hometown. This event will not be mandatory, and no need to sign up. Either bring something, or don't. (More details are in a later post).

Keep watching for updates, and post your questions here.

Great!  I saw that the site was booked and was hoping it was a Podder!  We now have 10, perhaps 12, Pod reservations and the booking window just opened.  There are two sites reserved in that area that I don't know who has reserved them.

We look forward to a fun time!

The link above is the campground reservation map which is LIVE UPDATED.  Most of the reserved sites (red circled) are reservations made by Podders 21 of us as of January 18!!
The reserved sites I don't believe are part of our group are 3, 4, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35.
So, if anyone in this group has those reservations, please let me know.

To date, I know we have folks coming from AR, KS, MN, MO, NV, and WI. Smile

We're so excited there are this many reservations at this point. Thumbs Up

Hey there - Just about 5 more months till the Weston Bend Pod Rally!!  The campground is down to about 9 sites with electricity left available.  You can keep track using the map linked in an earlier post of mine (Nov 12).

Hope you are enjoying your winter wherever you are. :-) Are you camping, or done for the season?  Oz-A-POD is winterized, parked, and covered on a pad poured just for her by our garage.  Very handy in case we decide to do any mods, cleaning, or just checking on things.

Wonderful! I look forward to meeting you and to see your 190!  I've not seen one in person.
I see you're from Nevada?  We were just out there camping at Lake Mead in October prior to attending an RPod rally in Sedona.

Campground reservation update -- there is only ONE electric campsite remaining!  There are also 3 "no hook-up" campsites that are available. If you have been waiting to make your reservation, now is the time!  To date there are 20 known Podder reservations, and 10 other sites reserved.
If you have made a reservation, be sure to msg me or post a note here.  Thanks!

Wonderful!  I've been out of country for bit and just saw your post!!  So you'll be leaving on Fri the 3rd, right?  I know the other folks booked their reservation on that site starting on Friday the 3rd, not the Thursday. If I hear of any campsites opening up, I'll post to this thread.

Greetings! It is true -- the campground sites with electricity are all booked for the main rally dates, May 2-5.  Several Podders will be there before the 2nd, and after the 5th. As of this moment, there are two sites without electric available for those interested.

To my knowledge, there will be 22 RPod campers, and 10 non-Pods (or at least are not known to be Podders).

If you have a reservation and find that you need to cancel, please post that info HERE or msg me before contacting the park reservation service, as someone may be wanting to make a reservation and could be ready to follow your contact with their own.

Also,in order to help with some Rally planning, I have a favor for those of you with reservations --
Sometime soon, when you get a chance, please MSG me the following info*:
How many people at your campsite; and breakdown of adults/kids, and names.
How many pets at your campsite, and what those pets are.
Your model and year RPod.
Your home town and miles to the campground.
Date and approx time of your arrival, and confirm your site #.
(*I guess you can post the info here as a comment to this post if you want to.)

THANKS!

Feb 18 Update -- all campsites are now reserved the weekend of this Rally.
I have begun a Waiting List in case of cancellations so if you want to be on that list, let me know. Big smile

Something to consider - while the rally begins on Thursday, we will be camping there April 29-May 6, getting things all ready so we can be good hosts! And, there are several Podders arriving on May 1. And, several sites in the campground are reserved for the weekend only, Fri & Sat nights (I'm guessing not Podders for the Rally). Most of these sites are available through the week until Friday. So, if you can come early and catch one "official" rally night (Thurs), please do! (Like Steve and Shelley in the post above).

Down to TWO MONTHS to the Rally!!  I had a msg from some RPod folks who had made a reservation awhile back but had not yet told me - so we're up to a total now of 23 RPods for at least one night of the Rally - most of them for all three nights.

Sometime this month I'll be posting more details about group events and opportunities.  Don't worry -- there will be plenty of time for you to explore Weston, the park, visit with other Podders, and/or just have some quiet time, and no activities are "required."

We look forward to the weather warming up by May -- it should be warmer by then, right?

Holladay Distillery Tour Info --
The distillery is very close to the campground. Tours are $10 per person. They last about an hour and include tasting and 10% discount at their store following the tour. For any of you interested, here's what you need to know:

First, they have an online reservation system and tours are for a max of 12 people. Each day has several time options. If YOU are interested, let me suggest that you make your reservation and post it here, and perhaps others will decide to join you on your tour and make their reservations. Also, if I know when folks have scheduled tours, I can work Rally events around that. And although I did notice that one of the Friday tour times already has 4 spots booked, I don't know that there is a huge rush to make a reservation right away unless you want to be sure to get your choice of time and try to maybe fill a tour with Podders. They do suggest advance reservations, and a full refund is available with at least 24 hours notice. :-)

A second option is that they can arrange tours for larger groups. If, say 40 people wanted to go, they would be split into two actual groups and head out on the tour about 15 minutes apart. This would need to be arranged at least a couple weeks prior to the date, and would depend on their availability. It is still $10 per person. My personal thought is -- perhaps the tours are better with smaller groups, and it would be challenging to find a time that works for everyone interested, so I will not be planning a group tour as such.

This information has also been posted to the RPod Owners Facebook group.  If someone there posts that they have made a reservation, I will post it here.

UPDATE -- Some Podders have made their reservations for the 2pm tour on Friday and some others have made reservations for the 3pm tour on Friday -- if either of those work for you, consider joining them!! :-) Take the reservation link below.  If you make reservations for any tour, please post that here.  Thanks!

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this.  I just now saw your note as we were out of town (in TX at an RPod Rally) and I couldn't get to this site on my phone.

Do you know about the RPod Rally that begins May 30 at Argonia River Park, KS?  If not, I can get that info for you. I believe they have some spots open.

Thumbs UpOptional Rally Activity: POD TOURS
This is something that is quite popular at RPod rallies... the opportunity to see models we have not yet seen live and in person, and see what mods folks have made to help their cute little campers work best for them. Lots of idea sharing goes on!

Are you interested in opening your Pod up to be toured? If so, let me know and I will print up copies of a list. It will be helpful if you could let me know a list of modifications you have made. Sometimes even the littlest thing YOU'VE done addresses something someone else is trying to figure out.

Date/time for the Pod Tour TBD, will be Friday or Saturday.

Again, no one has to tour or be toured - it's totally optional.

Thumbs UpOptional Rally Activity: HOMETOWN GIFT EXCHANGE.
For those who wish to participate, bring an item (one per person OR one per Pod) that is from or represents something about your hometown.

$10-$15 price range.

Wrap your item(s), and enclose a note with your name and hometown, and if not readily obvious, explain how this relates to your hometown.

When you arrive at the campground and are set up, bring your wrapped item to Rally Central (site #18) where we will store them until event time.

And it is totally optional. Those who don't participate are welcome to observe. Approve:-)

Our plan is to hold this activity following dinner on FRIDAY.

Once Chuck and I have all plans made, I'll be posting a PDF with all the info.  In the meantime, I'll be posting pieces now and then.  Keep in mind that ALL planned events are totally optional. It's not rude or anything if you really would rather do something else, like go in to Weston, or take a nap or go on a hike, rather than do a group meal or other event.

All meals and planned group events will be at Rally Central, site #18.
For all podluck meals, bring your chairs and beverages and plates and things, and serving spoons/forks as needed.

Thumbs UpTHURSDAY DINNER, 6pm -- Dogs, brats, and Podluck
We will grill up brats and dogs and have fixins for those. Podluck on the side dishes and desserts.

Thumbs UpFRIDAY DINNER, 6pm -- Podluck
Theme: your favorite crock pot, instant pot, or Dutch oven dinner item. Of course, if you want to do something else, your food will not be turned away!

Thumbs UpSATURDAY BREAKFAST, 9am -- Podluck
Bring a breakfast meal item to share. Of course, participating in the meal is optional.

Green Dirt Sheep Farm and Creamery --

We already posted a link to the Green Dirt Farm (posted again below), their store and our comments about how absolutely yummy is their cheese, but... for any interested in touring the actual sheep dairy farm itself, reservations need to be made in advance and there is a minimum of four people for a tour. The tour is about an hour long and then there is cheese tasting. Cost is $15; if you want wine with your tasting, the cost is $25.

One of our Pod couples, Linda and Lloyd, would like to go and will be happy to make arrangements if any of you are interested in a tour.  If you are, let me know and I will put you in contact with Linda.

Campsite cancellations/bookings -- I check the campground reservations quite regularly and today I noticed that a campsite was available that previously had been booked.  It was not booked by someone with our rally.  So I notified the first person on the waiting list, and they were able to go online and book the site for themselves. Yea! Thumbs Up
I have one other person on the waiting list.  If you want to be added to the list, let me know.  Something may open up!

Oh, I am very sad to hear this!  I hope your entire camping trip did not have to get cancelled, or at least that you have some camping coming up.
Thank you for letting me know.

My personal thought is -- perhaps the tours are better with smaller groups, and it would be challenging to find a time that works for everyone interested, so I will NOT be planning a group tour.

This information has also been posted to the RPod Owners Facebook group.  If someone there posts that they have made a reservation, I will post it here.

Here's the link for tour info and booking.  https://holladaydistillery.com/distillery-tour/ - https://holladaydistillery.com/distillery-tour/

One week from today a handful of us will be gathering at Weston Bend... awaiting the beginning of the Rally on Thursday!  We have a total of 23 RPods coming; 45 adults, 2 kiddos, and about 10 dogs.  We're looking forward to it -- even though weather forecasts are not consistent so we have no way of knowing what to expect.

If you have any questions at this point, don't hesitate to ask.
See you next week!

Thumbs UpRE FRIDAY EVENING --

Chuck and I are getting things organized for the DOOR PRIZES, and there is something(s) for everyone! We have some very nice things donated by Forest River/RPod and some very nice items donated by Olathe Ford RV in Gardner, KS, and a slew of other items camping-related. You will NOT want to miss and you MUST be present to participate. Our plan is to do this after dinner on Friday, but realizing that some of you might possibly be opting to eat in Weston instead of do the podluck, we decided to set the start time between 7 & 7:30pm.

We will do the HOMETOWN GIFT EXCHANGE immediately following the final Door Prizes. As I'd said, those not participating are welcome to observe -- I have NO IDEA how many people will be doing this!
