My dometic fridge is not working on electric. It starts on propane, so it works. When i turn it on, on electric, the red triangle with an exclamation point in it flashes. It was on and running since last weekend and I just found it in a non working state. I did the obvious circuit breaker on off thing, then checked the fuses. All seems ok there. What Is my next course of action ? Any ideas?

My suggestion is check the voltages in the back of the refrigerator. If it has the proper DC voltages then my only other suggestion is to pull the control board and make sure its dosn't have a loose connection. If everything looks good I hope someone else here can give you some better suggestions because control boards are way to expensive!

Battery or shore power or neither?

I could be wrong but I think 12V and control board is a constant in all modes.

Ok, I went out and put it on battery and it stayed on, no fault. I'm plugged into a 15 amp outside plug. So it starts on battery, and propane, so the electric seems to be the only issue. I'm going out camping on thursday so i'll probably just run on battery since i'll be plugged in, and it won't matter. I can use propane if I have any issue. Davmar? where is the control board located? i'll try taking a look at it. Then i'll have to get some instruction on how to check out the voltages, maybe youtube. I'm not great with electricity, but i can definitely monkey see monkey do it.

MJ, all accessible at rear of fridge with vent covers removed, 120 is a plug in to check and 12Vs are on a bus bar.

Also check your GCFI, that will stop fridge in shore power.

ok, so finding out the GCFI was involved helped. I think that was the culprit. I kept playing around with it, plugging and unplugging main power, then reseting GFCI, and suddenly it clicked, and a fan i had plugged in began to spin. I then tried the fridge on electric and it came on. I don't really know what was wrong, but something was shutting down the whole ac power. not sure if it was the GCFI plug, but it's working............. for the moment

MJLRpod,

Well some good. I have GCFIs go bad and act flaky. I have had my GCFI trip and shut fridge off, but not often, and usual associated with something else I did. Like plug in two cube heaters. That outlet behind fridge is on the GCFI circuit. Bears watching I guess. Are you still on that 15/20a circuit?

One suggestion - get an outlet tester (Home Depot or any good hardware store will have them), it'll tell you if your GFCI is acting up. They do go bad from time to time

Good suggestion. I think when it takes numerous resets, there is an issue with circuit or GCFI. MJ indicated it took numerous resets. Probably time to replace that GCFI.

I had an extension cord go bad once and caused things like tripping the GCFI outlet. It turns out the cover and conductor were nicked by my mower and I did not realize it. When it was dry, no problem. When it rained, things tripped. You might wish to check your cord for damage.

Every 120v outlet in the Pod goes through the GCFI.  That includes the fridge and the microwave.  Usually when mine trips it's due to an unknown cause but mine did go bad once and I had to replace it while on the road.  Not a big deal.

GFCIs can go bad. They are also sensitive to anything that causes a differential between the neutral and the ground. So there "may" be an issue that is causing current to flow through ground, or it could just be the GFCI. In our house we had a few GFCI-style circuit breakers in the main panel. Those were sensitive to the kick-back that came from the ballast in the fluorescent lights in the bathrooms. Drove me nuts. I ended up switching those circuit breakers out, and just installing GFCI outlets in the bathrooms. Probably also could have fixed it by replacing the florescent lights with LED, which we did much later.
