This is response I got from FR factory r-pod service
"When changing a tire you will want to place the jack on the axle beam itself right behind the hub assembly" Mind you this was on a 2019 189 pod. |

I use a homemade jacking block with a notch for the axle beam and wiring. The block means that the lift pressure is on the mounting bracket, not the axle tube. You can see a picture of it in my mods. It is just two pieces of pressure-treated wood screwed together and notched appropriately. I use this with an inexpensive hydraulic floor jack.

I place mine directly below the riser bracket, not on the axle, at the lowest point to the ground. I do have to be careful with brake wiring, which I do. Never had an issue. ------------- Mike Carter 2015 178 " I had the right to remain silent, I just didn't have the ability." |

Like Mike, I use a low profile floor jack below riser bracket. +1 I saw Stephen's mod and copied it. It worked well when I had a flat on the Grande Island near Niagara Falls. My jacking block has seen a lot of use since I made it. Most recently, I did a seal and bearing service on our 2016 RP179. It turns out the slide-side seal had failed and there was a lot of grease inside. The door side seal did not appear to have failed, but there was still a lot of stuff caked inside the hub. Both got new seals (recommended by Lippert when the hub is removed) and bearings cleaned and packed with new grease. I should be good for another year now. Now that I have done this job once, I feel more confident about doing it in the future.
