We have a 2015 179. does anyone have any experience removing the pleated shade and the valence?
I think I see 2 screws going vertically that holds the shade to the top of the valence. but i can't see any connectors that hold the valence to the wall or the cabinet above.
I would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks
Vann

Do not know how that compares with our 2011 model 177 but we removed that nasty thing after the first year and replaced it with a 2x cell blind from blinds.com.   Found in the channel that the shade was attached to about 8 screws on top and another 8 on the bottom.  They were kind of hard to see until the shade was shifted and slid over so I could see.  After that it literally fell off the wall.  Attached the new blind to the wall and my DW sewed a new curtain that was 4" tall to cover the top of the blind.  Final project looked like one that Marwayne posted about a week ago, I just can't remember what topic it was under.

The "connectors" that hold the valance to the wall are merely screws on top of the valance angled into the wall.  However, they are covered with the valance material and it is frustrating to get to them.  I cut a small slit in the material and was able to get to the screw.   (Removing and replacing these valances and blinds will be among our first mods to our 190.

On my 189 they were on top of valance under the fabric.....absolutely idiotic mounting.  The strings that hold shade up wear out and have to be replaced.  I have replaced one so far and I do want to design a better way to mount the valence......amazing that they went to production done that way.

I was too intimated to try to remove mine but on my 2016 they sure were ugly. I sewed rectangular four sided boxes and covered them (top, front, side, side). Easy-peasy.

I’ve removed both on our 179. Valance is connected with an l-bracket with two screws in wall and two in valance. Remove whatever you can access. You can then get to blinds to remove.

When I fixed my blinds, I put little drywall anchors into the wall when reinstalling to make them more secure.
