Do I need to make any other changes to operate the frig with the freezer compartment removed?

I removed the freezer compartment as described in the owner's manual last night.  There is no mention in the manual to make any other changes to operate the frige with the freezer compartment removed.

This morning...12 hours later...the temperature inside the frig is 28 degrees F.  It is operating on 120 volts AC with the setting set on maximum cold.  Of course I turned the temperature setting down to the medium level to see if that brings the temp up enough to not have the whole frig working as a freezer.

Do I need to make any other changes?

Wow! 28ºF!  That's cold enough to make ice.  Think of all the pre-mixed margaritas you can take along.  There's always a bright side to things that go awry.

We always operate our fridge with out the freezer and keep it at 3 or 4 lights depending on outside temperature. Sounds like you have it right.

After about a 8-10 days the upper coils will ice up and require a defrost so you should have a cooler handy.

I removed the freezer compartment at the beginning of summer.  The refer doesn't seem to keep items cold enough to prevent spoilage with higher outside temps.  About 60 deg temp drop.  I found the setting the thermostat one step below max cold.  Witch is the next to the longer light bar.  Really depend on the need for more room to keep items cold.  The temp seems very from about 35 or so in the main compartment to about 50 in the upper area of the storage in the door.  There are small battery operated fans to put inside the refer to circulate the air that might help.

Thankyou everyone for the replies.  I turned the frig down to three bars on the display about six hours ago and now it is holding at about 35 degrees.

For ice cream we'll put the freezer back in I guess.  I took it out to test how it works before trying it starting out on a trip.  Seems to be no problems.

We're going to give this a try in a couple of weeks. We have a countertop ice maker and don't use the freezer compartment for much else that we couldn't live without. We'd also be able to fit a 1/2 gallon jug of milk in the fridge.
