I am sure there are many campers, bikers, hikers and would be hikers amongst us that can appreciate...

Nephew, trail name Spock, just finished 2,190 miles in exactly 5 months. My knees hurt just thinking about it.

Quite an accomplishment. Proud Uncle!

March 25 => Springer Mountain, Georgia

August 25 @ 10:45 AM => Mt. Katahdin, Maine

Youth helps, but...

Last I heard, he is not far from finishing...again.

I've been corrected. Pappy is hiking a flip-flop.

He started in Georgia in March and hiked through to Virginia, then moved to Maine and began the hike back south.

He's set to finish his adventure by December.

Having done quite a bit of backpacking in my youth, I can highly appreciate the effort. I have about 90% of the PCT done, but not as a through hike. (we did do Oregon all at once) I have often thought if I could find time, I would like to do the AT through hike. Have done some parts of it already.

There is talk amongst Spock and his trail buddies of PCT '19. I think it is in their blood right now.

I'm thinking employment may get in the way. Wink

He has been carrying a GPS monitor the whole way. It really has been fun following along in real time.

BTW, right now he is one mile from his pickup point at bottom of mountain. My sister (his Mom) is a bit worried how stinky their RV is going to get! Ha!
