We are buying our first Rpod (178). The dealer is pushing extended warranty. Do people who have owned for a few years feel the extended warranty is necessary?

I did not buy the extended warranty with our 179 (December, 2015 purchase). There were some items addressed during that year. Other items, I have done myself as it was cheaper for me to do it myself than to tow 2-1/2 hours to get to the dealer. Other modifications I have done which would not have been covered under warranty anyway.

How much of a do-it-yourself type person are you? That may help answer whether it would be worthwhile. Since Forest River ended its extended warranty program (which I did not purchase), the ones you can get seem to be rather overpriced. Sure, if one of the major appliances fails (refrigerator, for example) and it is covered, it would be worthwhile. However, would it be better to save the money and keep it in the bank drawing interest? Just because something might fail does not mean it will. Dave Ramsey does not recommend extended warranties because most of the time, they are just pure profit for the seller.

Unless you don't know which end of a screwdriver is which.. odds are good you won't use the extended warranty, and they often have requirements for service at the dealer every year to keep them in effect.. a double profit center..

Agree with SH and Furpod, we did not purchase an extended warranty either, and would not have used it anyway.  All was good.  In fact, for everything we have ever bought from appliances to vehicles, we have never purchased an extended warranty, and we are happy about that, in our 41 + years of marriage we would never have been able to take advantage of any of them one  iota.

Thanks for the responses and advice. I decided not to get extended warranty when I pick up our new Rpod.
