I'm setting things up for the first trip of the season and going about sterilizing tanks etc. I filled the water tank, opened the valves and toilet to flush the antifreeze and all worked well except the hot water tank won't fill. I have the bypass valve closed and don't see any other valves on the lines. I also connected to pressure water supply by hose and it still won't fill. There is a bit of a kink in the far side of the hose on the water pump but wouldn't that stop all the water to the taps if it was fully constricted?

Any ideas?

Without seeing it - you don't have valves in right position. The HW tank has no choice to allow water if it is in right position.

oops...correct, the hot water tank valves under the bed were not open, I guess I forgot about closing those last fall.

You may want to sharpie on the valves, winter off etc.. then you know it is the opposite in summer. May keep you from burning the element

Thanks for the advice, I'm super careful with the electric element and an empty tank after burning out an element about 30 years ago...you never forget. However I did forget about the isolator valves under the bunk...I've made a note in my R pod book.

Or winterize with air and leave the valves alone.

Caveat to the above: If you are winterizing with compressed air alone, you can do that. If you are using RV Antifreeze, you do need to switch the valves. First, you don't want to have to pump 6 gallons or more of RV antifreeze into your R-Pod (capacity of HW tank). Second, I have read that the RV antifreeze is corrosive to the anode rod.
