I would like to increase the size of my current Refrigerator in my 179.
First can it be done without costing an arena and a leg.?
What is under the refridgerator? The looks like a foot below the refrigerator.

one thing that you can do (easy) is to remove the freezer to increase the fridge size (at lest on mine - check the manual). I don't know how easy/hard it would be to replace with a larger fridge - might be somewhat simpler to remove the microwave about the fridge and go vertical?

Yes I know about removing the freezer. We have started buying at stores if they are close to our camp site. That helps. I am trying to eliminate a cooler and ice. We have an ice maker but counter space.

Below the refrigerator is the floor of the slide-out, same as the dinette. You can't go down. The only way you can go is up by removing the convection-microwave.

My fridge sets up about a foot of the floor. I did not know if it was just a frame for the fridge to set on. Did not know what might be under the fridge.

My neighbor has a brand new 179 and 1st thing removed his microwave and fridge and bought a taller dometic fridge. It cost something like $1000. He says he boondocks exclusively and has no need for a micro/oven but needs a larger fridge so he can stay out longer (7-14 days).

So he goes from 3.7 to 6.7, Seems like a lot of $ and effort but we all have priorities.

Thanks. If I decide to do that I will probably check to see how much the dealer charges. No sure I want to tackle that job.

I wouldn't mind, eventually, finding a compressor based direct replacement for the 3-way fridge in the Pod. Slap about 300W of solar panels on the top of the camper and a good 12V battery, and the fridge could run almost indefinitely.

There was someone a few years back, he took out his microwave and put in a bigger fridge. He posted pics of the installed fridge. I remember very well that the fridge had 2 doors, freezer on top fridge on the bottom. Maybe Furpod  can remember that post.
