Hello again!

I've searched a ton on the internet for the answers to this question to no avail. I want to get some:

-stackable self-standing wire shelving sets to put in the kitchen pantry

-long, narrow containers to shove under the bed (narrow enough to fit through the opening from inside the trailer, long enough to hold our stuff--clothing and personal stuff) and short enough in height so I can fit two on top of each other if possible.

and

-bins to keep the under the kitchen benches storage area organized

I can't find anywhere what the INTERIOR measurements for those spaces are, so I don't know what sizes to look for.

Recall I'm a renter, that I have yet to personally witness the outside OR inside of any r-pod, that I won't get a chance to go look inside until the day we have to leave, and that I'll be renting a 2019 r-pod 190.

I suspect some of those spaces are pretty standard, but having never seen the inside of ANY trailer, that they are probs standard ain't helpin' much Big smile

Anybody know these answers?

oh! also:

how do you keep your stuff from flying around inside the camper while you're driving. I know people say "tie it all down," but tie it TO what and tie it USING what?

Val, we use cargo nets, similar to the ones you can get for the trunk of your car.  They are attached with screws, so for a rental trailer, you may want to ask the rental company to do it.

I don't have loose stuff on countertops or on table, I tie down the TV and table. I have a large storage container that fits under dinette I keep kitchen stuff in and other stuff sits on the floor. I have shelves front and rear that hold small items. I sit some stuff in shower basin, doesn't move.

You know the RP-190 is a new model that just came out a couple months ago. I'm betting there are very few in the wild at this point. My point is that the number of people on this list with an RP-190 is going to be very small.

An alternate approach to buying containers customized for a trailer that you're renting, would be to pack items in duffle bags, tote bags, tote boxes that you already own and then just set stuff up once you're in a campground. Not so much "moving in" as just bringing along stuff you'll want and need, without making a big commitment to storage items either time or money-wise. This would allow you to get on the road more quickly. And to maximize your time travelling instead of spending a bunch of time at the beginning of your trip, loading cabinets and storage areas without the benefit of ever having seen the trailer before. You and your family could still have the fun of setting up once you're in your campsite. And making notes for the inevitable RPod you'll buy later on (as someone else alluded to, and I agree :-) )

Hi Live2Camp. So, in my garage I have all our camping gear all stowed in bins that fit perfectly in my minivan. It's surprisingly different 'stuff' than what's needed for a travel trailer, (and pretty derned heavy) hehe, but still...i have these great boxes...wouldn't it be great if all I had to do was grab a couple of those pre-packed bins and shove them in the car, then rid a few of them of tent camping extras and river extras and put pod-related stuff in there? But my bins I'm guessing are gonna' end up being too big I'll bet. We'll see... getting hyped for the trip! Thanks for the response.

Why not go to the place you are going to rent the 190 from and measure yourself? Perhaps you live to far away?

Greetings

I use cloth shopping bags to put most everything in.   When not in use, they don't take any space.  Just another idea.

I can measure my 190 for you later after breakfast today.  But I'm curious-- How can you rent an RV and then start drilling screwing into the walls?

Well that is exactly what I did for for our first POD trip and it worked! We didn't have time to pack our trailer or to shop for anything other than groceries; and we were meeting others at an RV park. I went through our camping totes and pared down. It took a bit of stern talking to myself to leave behind some gear that I "never go road-trips or camping without" because we just were not going to need it. I left the left-behinds in the middle of the floor so that there were no chance it wouldn't get put back in the totes when we returned LOL Stuck the totes and a few other items including the ever-present canvas tarp and ice chest into our truck and off we went. For that trip we lived mostly out of the totes (again since that's our camping-only gear, not trailer supplies) and packed groceries into the pantry and RPod fridge. Essential tools & related were already in our Pod as we did that very soon after buying it. This all worked great as a stop-gap, and for a trip where we were primarily focusing on the visting and cooking outside. After that first trip we were able to take our time putting supplies in our trailer and subsequent trips have had us living out of our trailer, rather than out of borrowed (from our camping supplies) totes. Going back to your rental trip - also as Crankster78 mentioned, cloths bags work great too. And I'll add that stuff sacks are great. Both for the same reason, as you can smoosh bags and stuff sacks into spaces where totes don't exactly fit. Hope this helps!

Agreed, great suggestion! And like stuff sacks, even when full they smoosh into places where boxes don't fit. I have relatives lived on their RV for several years. I made them color-coded stuff sacks out of really tough pack cloth for tools, jumper cables, etc. etc. and it worked great. I haven't made our trailer-only stuff sacks yet but will get to it. My goal is to not be passing camping gear back and forth between the collection of tent-, truck- on-the-ground camping and RPod camping, as inevitably something will be left behind from one or the other. We're mostly there.

Oh, the idea was to get those dollar store, free standing, wire stackable shelving inserts and stick them in the vertical space in the "ward" (next to the fridge in pictures and videos), but I don't really know how wide or deep that space is so I don't know which inserts will fit in there. The last thing we care about is HANGING our clothes! We're gonna' stuff the clothes. But it would be great to have some shelves in that big empty vertical space for stuff that doesn't 'stuff' easily.

And as I mentioned, I already have much of our stuff stuffed into organized bins, so I was wondering if the bins themselves might fit somewhere inside the trailer.

But I'll tell ya' when I get my own trailer, I'll be 3Mming and tiny hook screwing all over those walls Big smile

Tell me about it!! "What do you mean, Me, you're not going to take those luxury 15 lb big-boy chairs with dual attached tables and ultra-shade umbrella? You're not going to take the alternative 20 lb loungers, either? You're not going to take those 6 3-man ultra absorbent dual towel/blankets? You're taking ZERO kerosene anything? Are you insane?!"

Stuff bags it is! (I still want shelf inserts, though) Big smile

By the way, what's all this hoopla about RV "mats"? Why is everyone talking about getting a big mat to throw on the ground at the entrance? I must have seen 7 videos in a row of people talking about their great mats. What's up with that?
