Okay, who has actually removed it. For the life of me I can not find the connection.

Before I break something, and add another chore, How the heck does it come off?

This was about the first mod we did on our 177 back in 2011.  On ours there were several small screws that held the brackets that held the valence in place; i simply unscrewed them and the valence came off.  My wife made a short valence (4" tall) to go over the top of the window and then we purchased a 2x cell window blind that you can simply pull down or push up to give you a full view out of the window.  I did attach 2 small brackets just below the bottom of the window so that the blind can stay close to the wall and not hang straight down.  We purchased the blinds at blinds.com.

Well, on my brand new 190 I just removed it by holding it at each end and tipping it up, like a hinge, then pull it off the brackets.  It is hooked onto the brackets.

On my 179 I removed the two rear ones on either side of the bed. Two screws holding the valance to a metal l bracket (one on each end), and two screws holding the bracket to the wall. Hard to get to the screws (the blinds are in the way) but you can get to them from underneath....
