Just a few minutes from I-75, this is one of the most beautiful parks in MI. They have some of the largest pines in MI, surviving from the days before logging cleared them all off. Lots of trails to walk/bike, a logging museum, working steam powered sawmill, interpretive center with exhibits, museum store, and playground. While at the museum you can feed the chickadees from  your hand. Some paved pullthru sites, most are electricity only, but they have water and a dump station. We prefer the more primitive sites around the perimeter of the park. No store, but they're not far from Grayling, which has everything you might need. There's a paved bike trail which runs from the park to town if you want some exercise.

Lots to do in the area: Wakely Lake is a great place to hike, as is the Mason Tract Pathway. This area is considered holy land to fly fishermen; there's great fly fishing close by, and outfitters not too far away. You can also rent canoes or take guided canoe/kayak trips based out of Grayling.

Plus the National Guard has a  base nearby, so you might see some artillery tracer "fireworks" at night.
