So after looking through all the Rpod floorplans and wishing there were other options I decided to create some additional ones to share with Forest River.  If you like any of these, let Forest River know.

Zubrew, I'd love to see a reworked addition of the 172 or 176 with a dry bath / sofa retro. I like the size of these as they fit into most tent sites. I think it would be great if they squared off the rear so the roof and rear wall are at 90 degrees, and add some shelves. With these campers kinda short on space, just squaring off the rear would add so much useable space. Great plans

mjlrpod, how about this?  I think they could add in some oval shaped TV trays at either end of the sofa that swing in from the sides. Almost like an airline tray but nicer.

I think the 172 is too narrow for the dry bath without the slide out

Wow, I love that floorplan for the 176. I would buy that for sure. Now if they squared off the top rear, it would be perfect. I think they need to get started on this.

Do you think squaring off the top rear of the camper would have any impact on the gas mileage of the TV?  Is there any other reason for it to be swept back like it is?

My wife would not care to give up either the wardrobe or pantry space so we will stay with the wet bath in our 179. However, for those wanting a dry bath in a layout like the 179, it looks good.

Most every camper on the road has the back squared off, I'm no expert, but I would doubt that would make much difference, if any. I would be willing to give up a mile a gallon to gain all that head room, perhaps and overhead shelf across the back.

So there are plenty of options for you, aren't there.  You can easily get one like most of the campers on the road, and us Pod fanciers can have pods.

The sofa wouldn't work in the 179 floor plan because the bench of the dinette is the bottom of the slide. A lot of people have put an aftermarket jackknife sofa on that bench; a factory option for one would be nice.

Some of us like what we have because they are not like all the others.  If you want to be like all the rest you have that option.  As pointed out they are all over the place.  You don't need permission from me or anyone else.  Get one.

As do tractor trailers, ever get up close behind a big rig or watch NASCAR, not quite convinced a squared off back would reduce MPG. It does make it look more like a teardrop, but teardrops are much lower in profile, compared to the TV.

The 179 and the 180 (probably the 189 and 190, not sure what they look like yet) have a much smaller rounded back end. Some call them the " big butts".  It's a tight radius that begins more than half way up the wall, versus the 171,172,176,177,178 having a continuous slope for almost the entire rear wall. (i believe, all of these have the same rear slope).

Thinking about it, cabinets above the kitchen counter in the 179 (possible only if the back were squared off) would be nice. Another benefit would be that the window would be on a flat, not a curved surface, and thus less likely to leak.

+1 Stephen, and in the 178s (and others) we could have storage over queen bed vice all of us making racks with limited heights:) Think how beneficial a row of cupboards could be. Not sure why the models (that do) other than a 179 even have a rear window.

I would love to see a real sink in the 179...the current layout barely allows access to the sink as the faucets almost completely block the tiny space.

Bout money, nice but costly, plus the two wheel design needs a heavy duty TV.

The dry bath is a real temptation.  Pacific Coach works Mighty Lite series has some tempting designs such as the 17RB <http://www.pacificcoachworks.com/products/mighty-lite-travel-trailer-17rb/>.  I've looked at these trailers and they are certainly as nice as any of the light weight trailers around.  But, for me, our Pod is paid for, it doesn't require that I have to have mirror extensions on my TV, it fits into tight campgrounds, is a little lighter, and I don't have to deal with warranty issues.  I guess if I had the dough, I might consider buying one, but I really like what we have too.

The wet bath is not something that everyone can put up with.  But with all RV's, and I suppose everything in live, there are trade-offs and compromises.  Until, I can't deal with the wet bath any more, I'll stick with our Pod.

177 for us, too!  Not a fan of sleeping apart from my wife, which all of the real and imagined 'pod floor plans require-  (I defy any two normal sized people to occupy a 'pod camper queen comfortably)- but the dinette with a memory foam topper is quite comfortable for the three or four night trips that we typically take.  The rest of the 177 design is good for us.

I just loved the Ollie! But not the price.

Our choice for the 182g came from several choices, not just dollar (though it was a good part of it). The Rpod hit the 'needs' and most of the 'wants'. Rpod also has a good re-sale value.

Besides, you really can't beat the looks of an Rpod!

I never wanted a dry bath, so the wet bath is fine for me. Actually I never wanted the inside bath at all. But... Happy wife, Happy life. We have one.

First big improvement would be to add USB/12v charging stations around the unit.

Second would be more or larger windows. Let's get the outside view going! The

Then: Better windows.. Don't like the slides. One of the few cons on our list. Would have preferred awning windows. This unit brought the outside inside and had the right windows:  http://safaricondo.com/en/travel-trailers-alto-serie-r-1713/ - http://safaricondo.com/en/travel-trailers-alto-serie-r-1713/
Yes, Ollie was on the top of our list and until we went up to the factory this was number 2. You can't beat the amount of light in the unit! Came off the list after visiting and seeing cheaply built it was.. Real shame.

I like my floorplan! Non-issue for me. Option of twin beds or Queen. We choose the 182g for the garage and outside kitchen area. I was searching for something on this idea. But, when thinking of a buggy area camped at, well be be in the Dome and there's no Propane connection there. That I would like to see!

So as you see, floorplan as is, I like. Improvements go other directions.
But I'm weird.. I have a 182g! LOL

A north/south bed, a dry bath and keep the 179 kitchen. And take the furnace out from under the bed. This would most likely require a longer box.

I'm no expert either, but my 171 has a spoiler in addition to the sloped rear. I assmume it must help with wind resistance. I like the streamlined look and I've put in an overhead shelf over the bed so I don't need more headroom.

I saw a knockoff 179 this weekend but can't remember the make but it had switched the drawers under the sink with the cabinets to the right.  the top portion of the center was a smaller cabinet and the bottom was the heater!  It wasn't underneath the bed.  Where the old cabinet was is a three drawer with wider and deeper drawers.  Just long enough to open without hitting the slide.  Only problem was there was no immediate access to the plumbing under the sink.

our wishes too on the 179.  instead of a wrap around seating area, we need a couch (not bench seats) like the 189.  also a dry bath.

Couch was what sold us on the 189, that and the dry bath where one person can be on the toilet and the other taking a shower.

Ours should arrive this week, been a long wait.

I'd love a reverse floor plan of the 179 - kitchen and door up front, bed in back. Why?  Because the back of the campground lot is usually quieter.  And the door would swing the right way to be out of the outdoor food prep area (I have a thing about doors swinging the right way.)  While at it, add more windows.

Just give it up and buy a 189!

I do have to agree, it was the sofa facing the tv instead of yet another dinette that swung us.

And it is a mighy comfortable sofa at that.

Just the right place to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch the wife make breakfast.

Table went out of ours as soon as we were home.

Replacing it is a folding ottoman, that gives us storage when we need it, takes up less floor space than the table, gives you a padded top to put feet up and relax. And will also serve as a table at need.

Ghosthawk,
Could you send me details on your folding ottoman? Our table came out as soon as we got home after picking it up.  We've been using a folding oversize TV tray we picked up at Walmart. But being able to put your feet up sounds good.  Thanks

I'd rather have the current look of the 172 than the more boxy squared off design.  As you said, there are lots of those already on the marker. I wish they would use pocket doors for the bathrooms.

Losing the essential closet and cupboard storage space in the 179 in order to have a bigger bathroom that only gets used a few times a day!? Terrible idea.

If you want a dry bath and a rear kitchen FR already makes two versions, the 195 and 196. Leave the 179 as is, within its footprint its perfect already.
