Hello we just purchased a 2018 rpod 179 and can’t wait to go camping in it. We have 7 month old mini poodle who will be coming along on all our adventures. After enjoying several years of tent camping we decided to venture into the RV world and r-pod seems like a good step up with the features and affordability they offer. Can’t wait to share more pics once we pick it up!

Best,

Jake, Ken, and Pike

Congratulations! We love our 179, and RPods in general. The length allows getting into spaces and onto roads that bigger rigs might have trouble with. Are you leaving tent camping behind? We're not there yet but when the time comes we'll already be used to our comfy Pod. No "awkward" transition Smile

Welcome and Congratulations!

We enjoy our 179. My wife and I have looked at others, but no other small camping trailer has the kitchen counter and storage space the 179 has. That is what really sold us on the 179. I hope you have many fine adventures and make many great memories in doing so with your 179.

We went into the 179 again at the Tampa RV show.  It is hands down the best floor plan IF (and unfortunately a big IF) you do not want a dry bath.

Welcome! Another 179 owner here. We also picked the 179 for the kitchen area, since my wife loves to bake and the convection oven does a great job.

Sounds like a great fit! I have an additional take on it that others might relate to (or that might help others making a choice). I'm not a natural cook (fortunately my guy is much better at it) but we both most prefer to eat at home/our campsite/trailside/picnic site/etc. so I work at it (and don't dislike it, just not great at it). The larger area & counter space of our 179 - and the fact the the kitchen is next to the door - makes me feel less confined and keeps the stress down. This may sound silly but others who don't come to cooking naturally, and who generally do better outside, will relate :-)

I agree ... I'm really happy with our wet bath (which makes good storage ;-) but I completely understand why many people would want the dry bath. I'm really glad there are options, it seems like the 189 and the 190 accommodate a lot of people who were previously "this close" to being happy with RPods.

In our case, it was not that we didn't want a dry bath. It is just that we felt we could tolerate the wet bath since we wouldn't be spending much time in it and we would get much more use out of the large kitchen and storage.

As in so many things, it is a matter of personal preference.

Want to add a kitchen vent though to help remove fumes...

Enjoy!

That would be nice. I can kind of understand why there isn't one. The way the stove sits, it would be hard to have a vent hood that would be effective. If the stove were closer to and parallel to the wall, then it might be easier but it would make for a much clumsier reach when trying to use it.

Someone just needs to figure out how to install a Jenair in that location.

We had the same feelings as StephenH.  The bath is tolerable.  Up to now, our trips have been short (5 days or less).  This summer will be our first long trip with the pod.  15 days to Banff National Park.  We may have a different opinion when we get back.  Overall, we love our pod.

Even our longer trips have not changed our minds as to the relative value of the larger kitchen vs. the dry bath. The one thing that I would like is a walk-around bed, but that is not possible to get in the width of the 179. None of the small trailers which do have a walk-around bed have a kitchen as nice as the 179's.
