| the ceiling fan in the ceiling of my 2016 171 stopped working. I can't tell if the little fuse in the ceiling is good or not. Could it be that, or something else? |

It could be the fuse in the fan, it could be the fuse in the distribution box. It could be a loose wire, a bad switch, a bad motor, It could be the little nipple on top that tells the motor the lid is open, is stuck in the down position. If you check all of those, and don't find the issue, call FF. In my experience, they have GREAT customer service. They sent me parts gratis for a 3 year old fan, that I told them I broke while upgrading the fan. I wouldn't hesitate for minute to call them again. BTW, this time of year, my bet is on the nipple. ------------- |

Depending on the size and flexibility of your hands, with the fan off, raise the lid, remove the screen and reach up and through the fan mount to the outside, and feel around for the nipple, jiggle etc and see if it moves up and down. It's towards the hinge side, outside edge, where the lid lip comes down.. You can also lean a 6 foot ladder against the pod, even with the FF, and open the lid from the inside, then just climb up, and you can see it there. BUT, I would test the fuses first, the connections, and check for 12v at the fan first.. those are easy to do and rule out. ------------- |

I just replaced what you're calling that nipple. I found the part on line somewhere for about $7 (+ about $10 shipping). I got at it from the top, outside. Pretty easy and obvious how to fix it. But... I was able ti recondition the old switch with a little oil. Now I have a spare, If you end up going this route, it's easy to bypass the switch to see if the fan runs. If this is the first time it's happening, a little WD-40 followed by a drop of oil might take care of it without removing it. Check the fuses, etc., first. TT ------------- 2010 176 FJ Cruiser |

Okay, my fan quit working this week while turning up from low to medium speed. Fuse in box good. In-line fuse good. Nipple is up and manually pushing up and allowing it to come back up (while on ladder outside) makes no difference. No other 12V system problems. Sounds like maybe a bad switch. I assume you've worked the switch a few times to see if that removed any corrosion and it begins to work again? if not then I'd next check to see if you're getting 12V to the switch but not out of the switch. I'm not sure how the fan is wired but can you get to the wire connections at the switch?
