I have visited many campgrounds just to drive through and assess them for future camping trips.  At several places, some of the campsites have the power box  located quite far from the RV site, and I know my power cable will not reach it.  What would be a reasonable maximum total length of the power cord plus extension cable without encountering problems.  How many others carry an extra extension?

We have never been where a single extension (25fOOT) didn't get to where we were. You can buy a proper 30A RV extension many places, including most walmarts.

I have a 25' 30amp RV extension cord.  Only had to use it once and it worked well

I carry a 25' extension which I have used a couple of times. I also carry 3/25’ lengths of fresh water hose and have had to use them twice. Which is ironic since we mostly dry camp in state, national and Provincial parks, but the day I leave them home will be the day I need themSmile

I have one campground in particular i visit a few times a year that takes atleast a few feet of the second 25 foot cord, some sites require all of the second 25 feet. I also purchased a 75 or 100 foot hose (i forget which) because of this place. Everywhere else so far, no extensions needed.

mjlrpod,

Scusset Beach on the Cape Cod Canal is the reason I bought the 3 hoses.

I got my extension cord at Menards.  If there is any chance of rain I tape up the connection and wrap it in press and seal.  If possible I dont leave the connections on the ground.
