What are you fisher persons using these days? I recently became a baitcaster convert after a whole lot of field practice.

Also, I've been reconditioning/repairing a few spinning reels on the shelf and came across a great source of spare parts: http:// stores.ebay.com/JDL-Treasures1/Fishing-Reel-Parts-/_i.html?_fsub=571347519 -   http://stores.ebay.com/JDL-Treasures1/Fishing-Reel-Parts-/_i.html?_fsub=571347519 - http://stores.ebay.com/JDL-Treasures1/Fishing-Reel-Parts-/_i.html?_fsub=571347519

Had a broken oscillating gear on a little Shimano Sahara. For a couple of bucks those guys came through with the exact replacement. Thought that was cool.

Pulled this beauty off the shelf: Shimano Bantam 1000 Tournament Baitcaster

Can you tell I need to go fishing!?

That's a beauty.

My Dad had a collection beyond belief. Hundreds, maybe a few thousand lures that he had collected over the years. When he ran out of room in the tackle box, he bought another tackle box. There were dozens of tackle boxes in the boat house when we were settling the estate. Some of the lures were hand-carved wood, and were actually quite valuable individually. I was amazed.

Then we got into looking at all his rods and reels. He had at least one of darn near everything I had ever heard of. Open face, closed face, fly fishing, you name it. Sadly, I have not had the same bug in me, but that is another story.

I have a collection of all, even some bamboo fly rods. I have my Grandparents Pluegers and my Dad's Ted Williams stuff. I have my rods and reels from flipping sticks to spin casters I owned since my foray into bass fishing. I have special gear for special things, like mudcat fishing. Not a salt water fisherman. I grew up on Zebco 33s, also have an old lure collection since I was a kid. My sunroom has a collection of mounted fish I caught over the years, needless to say fishing was an integral part of my life.

Over the years I've evolved into all fly fishing. Seems I like hiking in rivers whether I catch anything or not.

Target practice in yard with rubber plugs is fun. Forgot how accurate those old pistol grip rods can be. Should be casting contests on golf courses - tee off with 12 foot surf, 6 to 7 1/2 foot baitcaster on fairway and pistol grip on green! Fly guys do the sand trap chip shots!

RichC, waders on on the list!

You fly fish or thinking about taking it up?

That was weekend activity for us. Each of the kids had a old-fashioned casting reel, and we would put a rubber plug on, and target practice hitting a hula hoop at the far side of the back yard. I got pretty good at it.

Then we would go fishing, and Dad would point to the spots where we wanted to plant our lure for that lunker. Fond memories.

Had a blast this year down on the outer banks, got a total of 4 red drum! All in the surf!
What a battle those fish give!

Glue Guy - Hula Hoop is a great idea. My wife has one! I've been using trash can lid.

RichC - yeah, definitely thinking about it. Got lot's of inherited antique fly rods decorating the house. Just never got into it and right now I need to let all my recent upgrade$ fade a bit. I was out yesterday in the Yak and realized I really needed a new pfd/vest so I ordered a https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050HDACS - Stohlquist PFD .

Looks like a handy contraption. Also, for the last 3-4 years I don't go in a river without my collapsible wading staff.
