We are the happy owners of a new 2015 181G.  I say 'new' because it was a dealer demo and has never been used other than as a show model.  We have downsized from a 26-foot Rockwood Roo, which was too big for the two of us, and can't wait to use it.  We have scheduled next weekend for our 'premier'!

Lots of good tips on here from experienced Rpodders, and will probably be here a lot to learn and share.

That is quite a downsizing to say the least.  However, the ability to move the 181G in tight campsites, easier towing, and better visibility will be some big pluses as you get used to it on your trips.  Welcome !

Welcome, we have a 179 and we were looking at a 24' yesterday. The extra space is nice but I'm not quite sure about giving up Pod simplicity. Think we are going to keep the Pod.

Good evening, everyone. My name is Adam, and I'm a brand new R-Pod owner (2017 R-Pod 178 — bought gently used). We've downsized from a 32-foot Jayco, after it was totaled by the insurance company due to a tornado that hit us during Hurricane Harvey. — My original RV was named The Jimmy Rockford. This one is called The Little Jimmy. — I'm a writer by trade and a cook by hobby. Eagle Scout class of 1987, so I have plenty of 'roughing it' experience. I never expected I would live in an RV (2015-17) or own one for partial living (Harvey reconstruction of the house — and now occasional vacations), but my accidental views of this forum have prompted me to join and hopefully contribute. So far, I've seen a ton of modifications here that look awesome. And, I've noticed that all of you are friendly folks. I'm looking forward to becoming a part of your group.

Welcome aboard Adam.  That is a HUGE downsize from the 32' Jayco.  We downsized from the other direction, a 6 sleeper Jayco popup that was 22' when open.  Yet now we can camp out west at places we couldn't before due to bear activity.  Am sure all builders have more than enough work to due for a long time, hopefully you will be able to get back in your reconstructed house soon.

It's a huge downsize, indeed. But I immediately realized that this RV is better built than the previous one. Also, it's nice to be able to tell my kids "Sorry .. not enough room." ;-)

I love being able to choose the 20' slots at the Michigan State Parks, opens up a bunch of possibilities camping, not to mention what jato mentioned about out west.

Purchased a new 179 this summer and have made several trips including a month long trip to the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound and the Oregon coast. My wide and I are pretty happy with the Rpod, although we have had a number of problems with it. Most of which I have fixed. The most significant issue was a problem with the slideout not retracting on our first night out. Removed panel beneath the refrigerator and found that the power wires became disconnected. Fixed this, later the slideout was catching on the side seat plywood covers. Installed thinner plywood covers to partially fix this.  Will return to dealer to see if slideout can be raised.  Have made many improvements for storage and organization and will share some of these later.

My experience over time with an RV --  if you don't like to fix things, stay in a motel.

I don't have a problem fixing things and am impressed with many features in the Rood but there is romm for improved quality control.
