Thinking of getting 16" wheels for 2015 179 to increase ground clearance. Has anybody gone to 16" and if so what tyre size did you go for? Thanks

Does your R-Pod have risers for the axle? If yours came with 14" wheels/tires, you could increase to 15", but I don't know about 16". It would be more likely to not have adequate clearance for the fender. Adding riser blocks if yours does not have them would be more likely to give you satisfactory results.

What size wheels/tires do you have now?It's possible,e just upping the tire size will gain you some room, but fender clearance is going to be part of the issue. Risers, (as noted above) if not installed already, will get you a couple inches clearance for everything but the axle itself.

One thing to note.. all the videos I have seen of off roading/out backing trailer stuff in Aus, was stuff the pod won't hold up to very well.. Now, I am sure it can't all be like the Canning Stock Route, etc.. but.. the Pod is pretty much small and cute.. not "robust"..

+1 to comments about clearance, my initial thought was you may have issues with finding a 16" wheel with a bolt pattern that matches the Pod. Etrailer has some interesting combos of wheels and tires which would assist you if looking at readily available patterns. Generally 16" wheels are also wider.

What comes to mind for me is that 16" versus 15" only really gains you about a 1/2" difference in radius. Not exact, as the dimension is for the wheel, not the tire. But in any case, the change in height is not going to be the 1" that the name implies.

Thanks for the comments, my current wheels/tyres are 205 75R 14c and I do have risers. I was trying to get a bit more as I have already take out one of my rear stabilisers [both replaced with removable stabilisers as posted previously].

Think I will do a bit more research......Thanks again

You might try lowering your hitch an inch or two. The lower your front end, the higher your back end....

If you already have risers, there should be no issue changing over to the larger HRE tire and wheel size. It's a 15 inch wheel with a 235 75 15 tire. That would give you "about" an inch and a half more clearance, as it's an almost 3 inch taller tire.
